Gem Clog Pruf Peerless, Gem Stainless Steel PTFE blade, shave 5.

I have bunch of partially used blades loaded in razors so time to work through them. I am tenatively going to say this razor is the same as the regular Clog Pruf but will check tomorrow when I switch this blade into the regular Clog Pruf. What is the same is both are for the way I shave the 2 best razors I own. I have a lot of okay, a few good even less great and then these 2. Perfect BBS shave for me with no irritation which is next to impossible for me to achieve with any other razor.

One interesting observation on this razor the blade exposure is such that if you follow angle of the front of the cap and use some pressure the guard will stretch the skin and it is in effect the same as the all hype put into the hysteresis effect to sell cartridge razors. If you expose more hair by pulling the skin and cut closer before it snaps back does exactly the same as hysteresis. The key in this case is the exposure can't be too much or you get lots of cuts. Micromatic open comb which is probably the second best razor I own after the Clog Pruf has this problem and that comb won't stretch the skin like a guard either. It cuts close but you don't get that stretch and even with hand stretching and very careful cutting it still doesn't get me as close a shave. Maybe if I was a more skilled shaver or used to straight razor shaving I would be able to get the shave closer with the Micromatic open comb. It is a great razor but this one is better with enough passes, like I said it depends on how you shave.

    GEM Junior baton handle razor
    GEM stainless steel blade
    Pinaud Clubman aftershave

First use of this great little re-knotted brush! Nice soft bristles with just the right amount of backbone. Whipped up a great lather on my face in short order![IMG]

Gem Clog Pruf, Gem Stainless Steel PTFE blade, shave 6.

Shave was almost as good as the Clog Pruf peerless. The one trouble spot under my chin along the jawline I got it shaved closer with the peerless and the peerless was a little bit smoother. The smoothness could be attributed to this blade being almost done. The most I usually get out of a Gem blade is 6 shaves then the blades get chucked. I have another blade that isn't as close to being used up that will be swapped between these 2 razors next.

For anyone who is curious the difference between the Clog Pruf and Clog Pruf peerless is the amount of teeth on the safety guard. The peerless has more. You can see the difference between this picture and the one in the previous shave a few posts back.

Hadn't used the Plisson brush for a llllooonnnggg time and that's a shame. Really works well and feels good to me. Made a ton of nice, creamy lather. Got a great shave and my face is happy. Now go enjoy your day folks.

This is a mild little razor but more than efficient on less than a days growth.
I also love the way the handle floats in the sink in between passes.
    Happy Shaving one and all.

Gem Clog Pruf, CVS carbon steel blade, shave 3.

Swapped out the finished ptfe blade with a broken in carbon steel blade.

This shave did get me closer on the trouble spot on the jawline but the almost done ptfe blade was overall closer and I don't want to say smoother but the shave was more crunchy and audible with the carbon steel blade. The shave was at least as good a the Micromatic open comb without any cuts an minimal irritation. If the shave is a quirk of the type of blade then tomorrow's shave with the Clog Pruf Peerless and this blade should be about the same.

Started this rotation with a Classic SE, a Streamline which is very much a love it/ hate it Razor. As it was one of my first SEs I got to like it, and used it quite often as a daily shaver. Perhaps rushed the shave a bit, so not as close as usual un certain areas but more than passable finish.

    Proraso Sandalwood
    Bunny B-400 by Tom
    C.V. Heljestrand
    Heljestrand wedge
    CWR
    Pinaud Lilac Vegetal

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Proraso Sandalwood Shave Cream face lathered well with the Bunny B-400 by Tom. I did two passes with the C.V. Heljestrand Lather Catcher razor with a Heljestrand wedge blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Pinaud Lilac Vegetal AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
