Today's knot trial features the Turn N Shave Tip knot. It has a little more backbone then my Maggard SHD Fan but that may be due to it being a bulb shaped knot. The tips did gel and are velvety soft but I did detect the tiniest bit of scritch as I was face lathering. The scritch was probably a 2 out of 10 and may end up going away as this knot gets more broken in. The knot seemed less dense then the SHD but is more dense then the standard two band finest knots that I have. I had no issues with the knot releasing the lather but it didn't seem like flow through was that great. The knot held all of the lather in the top third of the bristles so by the third pass it was getting a little thin. All in all a great knot with good backbone and super soft tips. I feel like the Maggard SHD is still the better performing knot and costs $5 less.
The shave itself was great and the edge on the Henkels blade was sharper then the Rolls I used last shave. I did two passes with the Rapide and my final pass and touching with Champagne Starburst for an IBBS finish. For post shave I used the Stirling Glacial Unscented PSB followed by the Ramblin Man AS. My face is smooth and I'm smelling great. Have a great day my friends!
Hump day!
