  6. Thanks Clint, I have got to give you a little enabling credit on the soap. I have enjoyed the Fine soaps that you sent me so much I wanted to add the menthol to the bunch.

  7. @jtface Congratulations and welcome to our SR club! My suggestions are to take short and deliberate strokes. Also, go for the neck with the grain when you think you are ready. Only advance to doing more when you have a better handle on using your SR. Just remember, it takes time so don't rush. Speed will come when you are comfortable with the razor. The good thing is that there are many members who are willing to help you with any aspect of SR shaving.

  17. I don’t have an Arkansas stone but in my experience with a Zulu Grey a natural stone takes a lot more laps than a synthetic. 25 laps is want I would do on a synthetic, try 100 or more laps on the hard Arkansas and see if it improves.

I hope Sherri keeps improving and is home shortly.

    Welcome to the Dark Side!

  20. I just had to get a shave in and try out the new soap and razor. First the soap. Let me just say that Snake Bite will always have a place in my den. I have tried three Fine soaps and the performance is awesome and they are easy to lather. Snake Bite is an unscented menthol soap. I finished shaving about 15 minutes ago and I still have a nice menthol feeling on my face. I thought the soap would be just too much menthol but to me it is a nice balance, not over powering but enough to have a kick to it.

Onto the razor. I loaded a Feather Pro in the Feather clone and went to work. The razor came with 10 Japanese blades but I did not try them. The razor clamps the blade great and the razor felt solid on the hand. I attempted two passes and called it quits. Cleaned up the loose ends with the OC plate in the Karve. I have a lot of respect for the straight razors guys out there. I just need more practice and lots of it.

Honestly if I had to choose one razor and one soap.....never mind....I don't want to box myself in but it is hard to beat the Karve and Fine soaps. 20190528_175943.jpg
