Was wondering if anyone has an idea to this razor, im sure its probably the wrong case but the razor looks like a 40s superspeed but gold which i have never seen. Its mase in the USA but has no date code just pat off or something
No date code has the normal gillette logo, made in the usa then on the opposite side it says reg us and pat off
No date code like the picture. Its in good shape and has a box of thin blades in the case, the codes on those is B 1
It's an interesting razor; a '53 Milord with no date code; Gillete started adding date codes after WW2 late in 1950. I assume the center bar is notched? But, there are many oddities and anomalies in the world of vintage Gillettes, so this one shouldn't come as a great surprise. I think it's pretty cool though.
It is 48 - 50 Milord if it lacks date coding and is styled like a 40s style Super Speed. As stated above it is in the wrong case for the Milord sets. Just so everyone doesn't keep confusing things here Milord and Super Speed were set names not razor names regardless of how people use the names interchangeably to describe razors. The Milord set came with the same razor as in the Super Speed sets from 48 - 54 difference is one is nickel plated and the other is gold washed. Gold wash is just a very thinly applied gold plate. Little bit of trivia here in the US the 1940 Milord and Milady Tech were the first TTO razors Gillette made that had a safety guard.
