Just the Basics June!! June 5 Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Super Speed Blade - (1) Soap - Moon Soaps Old School Tallow Brush - Jayaruh #54 Post - Alum Well my plan to switch to shaving in the mornings has yet to come to fruition. Today did start very early with an 8 a.m. visit to the pain doc, then immediately out to work for 12 hours. So, the shave stayed in the evening. It's Wednesday, and since I did Menthol Monday and Tabac Tuesday I decided to do "Whatever Wednesday". Yes, yes, I know about Williams Wednesday, but I have a variety of non-Stirling soaps that need some love. So, whatever Wednesday put them all up for grabs and the Moon Soaps Old School Tallow was the choice. Extremely slick and cushy soap with a nice scent. The JR54 took care of all the hard work. I switched from the '47 SS to the '59 SS. I consider the flare tip to be the razor that made Gillette a household name. Three passes to a baby smooth finish with no cuts, blood, and the alum was quiet. Of course with Russian steel with this setup why wouldn't it be? Have a great Thursday!

June Focus Maintained Proraso Sensitive green tea & oat SS B-400 / APShaveCo Tuxedo brush Osaka Suribachi bowl, cool water Univinlions Salon kami-shavette Feather Artist Club Pro blade - 2nd Proraso Aloe & Vitamin E balm Did Proraso get the nod for Basics Theme? I almost went Red / sandalwood but haven't used the White SS & Blue balm since forever. There's a Pass Around Box coming my way in a week or two and I needed to know if the balm was leaving. Still iffy, but I do like the odd scent. The soap isn't fancy but I get serviceable lathers, and it gave good slick for the clone of a Pain Stick. Took two passes; N to S, and S to N. Stayed away from trying anything fancy. Cheeks, most of my neck, and under the jaw are acceptable. Focus will improve the chin reduction over time. Well into a CCS with a minor nick, or knocked off a scab from a previous error. It's all good. Good Shaves Y'all!
Thursday Shave: Today is a holiday so I go to take wake up late and then have a nice leisurely shave. This stainless steel beast is an impressive razor, despite being extra long, full hollow and 8/8 it does not flex in the least. Even better it just takes and holds a wicked edge. Today's shave.... Epic. Irritation A+ Closeness A+ Smoothness A+ Sharpness A+ Razor: Friodur 8/8 full hollow Strop: Kanayama Brush: EDBIO Elite Razor Manchurian Pre: Proraso Soap: Route 66 AS: Fine Snake Bite AS Scent: Dior Cologne Royale
Top of the line basic shave today. Vintage Williams...Turkish boar....Kampfe lather catcher...treet blade...and clubman musk. Life is good in the Fuzzyhood...
I'd actually used Bluebeard's Revenge, Proraso White and Palmolive before trying TOBS. Sent from my EML-L09 using Tapatalk
thats cool ,not available here at that time, proraso is in the shops here locally as well.tobs was my first brit soap..
Great progress! It's been said that TOBS is basic, so by that logic - Proraso must also be basic. Sent from my EML-L09 using Tapatalk
It was my first British soap too (Bluebeard's is clearly a foreign rebrand)! I purchased it directly from the shop in London... A man could spend a fortune in that place! If I never had access to other soaps, TOBS would keep me a happy man! Sent from my EML-L09 using Tapatalk
