  1. Thank you, Joe!
My bottle of Lilac Vegetal is Pinaud, it's an older bottle, I'm guessing from the 70's or 80's.

  7. Saturday Shave: The weekend is here so no more software experimentation. AoS cream with a little bit of AoS tallow soap to make super lather. The razor is a monster 9/8 Mike Martinez with a huge smile. It also half hollow so this is a beast and it has a superb edge. On one stroke I took to steep an angle and spoiled what would have been an epic shave by giving myself a small weeper. Still it was an excellent shave.

    Irritation A Closeness A+ Smoothness A+ Sharpness A

    Razor: Mike Martinez Karasu 9/8
    Strop: Kanayama
Brush: EDBIO Handle by Jason, Shavemac silver tip
    Pre: Proraso
    Soap: AoS cream
AS: Fine Snake Bite AS, Speick ASB
    Scent: Creed Orginal Vetiver

  13. Sorry about the weeper but that razor is a beast. You probably keep that one locked in a cage and I know it has also had its rabies shot.

  14. Believe it or not, my legs are almost hairless. I am the exception to the rule that Italians are hairy. Therefore, I will pass on your offer. Lol!
  15. Just trying to take care of my friend. Have a great weekend.

  17. Razor - NDC Ball End Tech
    Blade - Derby Extra (pre-2016)
    Soap - Proraso Green Tub
    Brush - Omega 10005 Boar
A/S - Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue
    And Cold Water.

Today was the third shave with this 30 day rule. Keeping it simple with basic gear vs. higher-end has little to no effect on my shave results. All three shaves in June have been BBS. Now I will say that Proraso is not quite as slick as Cella or Tabac, but those are both tallow soaps well known for their slip. Nothing wrong with Green P. whatsoever, still a great soap capable of delivering a perfect shave. As has been mentioned on this forum at least once or twice......Technique Trumps Tools. My techniques have developed since 2013 and include a solid shower prep, skin stretching like a barber would employ while using a straight, and knowing my direction of growth and how many days worth of stubble works the best for giving my face a rest. For me, 48 hrs. is perfect. Every day not so good after a few in a row, and anything past 4 days doesn't seem to work as well for me either. Two to three days is the sweet spot where I can work enough light passes to get a BBS result that really lasts with very little growth the next day. None visually anyway.

  18. Shutdown ended for me today. Hope to get back to normal after some rest. Getting scruffy and need a shave.
  19. Congrats, Patrick!

  20. Just the Basics June!!

    June 7

    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Super Speed
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Brush - Jayaruh #46
    Post - Alum

It's Fat Friday! So, MWF is out and the JR46 turned it into a fantastic lather. I'm again reminded of one of my favorite soaps and why I like it. This has been my top choice, even though it sees limited action, and it is still in my top 3. It has competition, though, from Stirling Sheep. Not even gonna lie, I think Stirling has the classic Fat beat for luxurious lather. You'll notice, however, I still haven't published a list of top soaps. Just not gonna go there yet. Speaking of soaps - notice the fantastic hand turned soap bowl still in the background? @jtspartan made that for a raffle prize I won and it is still sitting empty. That's a crying shame. I just don't know what to put in it as most of my soaps come in their own tubs. I asked a few months ago for some enabling help and only one came through. @TommyCarioca suggested Fine Sandalo, which I haven't found by the way, but I thought with the enablers around here I'd get more help than that!! Ok, let's try this. I have enough soaps. I have an empty soap bowl that, no matter how wonderful, I prefer to sit empty. Don't give me any suggestions. Nope, not listening. I refuse to be enabled by any of the likes of you. Can't do it. Nope, can't convince me. (Is that enough or should I beg more?)

Anyway, the shave with the SS and Rapira was another three pass delight. Using this "basic" gear and just shaving without trying to impress anyone, even myself, is working out just like it should. Great shave after great shave. It's just that easy.

Have a great Saturday and an even better weekend!! Sunday night - 7 p.m. CDT - The ST. LOUIS BLUES play for the Stanley Cup!!!!!!!
