That Gillette looks suspiciously like an Aristocrat, the early TTO one with the unnotched centre bar. Can't recall the year offhand but it was the first year of the TTO Aristocrat -- maybe 1948-49? Very nice score for $5.00 anyway...
Sorry you all have to be going through that now. I did the hospital deathwatch with my mother -- not fun on either side of the bed. I will pray for him and for your entire family.
Wednesday afternoon June 12 Schick E2 / Personna (3) 30DC LE maple cashmere brush La Toja shave cream Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Original Astringent and Clubman VIBR Two pass shave today to remove a multi-day stubble. Back to DFS with no fuss. I decided to use the Clubman VIBR today, and since it has very little in the way of skincare ingredients, I preceded it with a healthy splash of witch hazel.
June 2019 Just the Basics... 12 June, MMXIX A.D. Day Twelve - the Basic GSB lineup continues... Two for the win. Keeping it basic. Busy day followed by a relexing evening. And, may it please the RBC @NCoxSTL, there will be NHL on my screen tonight. It will be interesting to see how the NHL officiates tonight. Could be a wild game! 74f and surrounded by cigar smoke. In other words, a perfect evening. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a great evening and a pleasant Thursday!
Great photo and sorry about the blade. Declan is growing fast. He is saying daddy get back in bed with are not through playing.
@Terry my thoughts and prayers are with you. Just use it for touch ups. Start with just touch ups on your finishing hone and then over time you can go further down into the grits. Kind of like learning to use a straight and starting with just one pass in your cheeks. I do 6-8 on FeO3, 20 on linen, 60+ on leather and then 20 on linen after the shave. For DE I have a strong preference for modern razors, heavy and aggressive. The only vintage DE I kept is my Barbasol Floating Head. Good to see you back. Brian. I have a tough beard too so I try to keep my razors very sharp. For my last stone I use either a 16k or 20k, if there is any fall off in sharpness it hits the CrOx. I also refresh my edges on a finishing stone after 8-12 shaves. I also do a few laps on a FeO3 strop before each shave. I also use the tree topping arm hairs test which results in honers mange. The test is not perf so just keep trying to get that edge as sharp as possible.
