Sorry to hear about your brother in law. He and the family is still in our prayers. Congrats on the MMOCs. The one in the picture is very nice. Congrats on the shave except for the blemish that is no more.
Thanks John for the info. That gives me a starting point. I figured it was late 40s because I have a no notched Super Speed from the late 40s. I'll do some digging.
Keith, you are a more seasoned SR shaver and I value your judgement. According to Lynn Abrams, 40 to 60 laps on leather should be sufficient. I wasn't including the linen as part of the stropping experience because I rarely do it. I do use Crox and a barber's hone to refresh my edges. Anyway, it's great to exchange ideas and it makes every one aware of doing things differently.
I used to 40-50, I am not sure if it makes a difference. I also vary it by the type of strop. I can do just 30-40 on Mastro Livi strop and the edge is very nice. I found using the FeO3 extends the life of my edges, I am able to get more shaves before I have to touch it up. It is good to exchange ideas, reading what others do guides my experimentation.

Sending prayers your way buddy. Take care. Very nice find Danny. Very nice John. Nice shave Chris. I'm rooting for the Blues also.
I’m an odd redneck from Alabama. I’ve attended about 180+NCAA Hockey (Univ of Alabama-Huntsville) games, 100+ minor pro games, and a few dozen NHL (Avs and Stars home ice) regular season games. The night the Blackhawks record streak ended in Denver, I was there. I played basketball and football as a kid, but in reality, basketball was my thing. The offensive sets and tactics, as well as defensive strategies are very similar in both basketball and ice hockey (5 on 5 versus 5 on 5/+goalie). In my heart, I feel that the NBA is home to the greatest (most athletic) athletes on earth, and that the NHL’s Stanley Cup is the hardest trophy to raise above one’s head.
