  3. My only razor that I would call expensive is the Feather ASD2, all the rest are vintage Gillettes with a few others in the mix that were acquired along the way since 2013. With some being a few dollars more and some being real bargains (perfect 40's Super Speed for $5.00) their average cost is reasonably low. Yesterday's shave with my "Back2Basics" 30 Day Rule setup has demonstrated once again that at this point I could probably thin the heard by culling out a few of my multiple backups and models I'm less fond of.

The NDC PostWar ball-end Tech is as capable as any razor I own, but my vote would go to the Old Types and NEWs as keepers. I like the Super Speed TTOs, and think the regular '52-'56 Flare Tip has the best handle diameter, knurling and overall balance of any (including the Red Tip) but for some reason I just don't find them as effective or charming as the older open comb models. Obviously, I haven't tried every razor ever made, but my experience with Old Types, NEWs, Techs, and Super Speeds tells me that most of their product line was/is as good as anything.

I certainly enjoy owning my Feather ASD2 and Merkur 34G and appreciate that they're also great shavers and beautiful to look at. But they're no longer necessary for me to produce a truly great shave. Any one of those Gillettes (with a backup or two of the same model) would be all that is needed for a perfect three-razor den.

  4. Elvis had the wrong title for Blue Suede Shoes. I thought it should have been Now Go Cat Go. Another idea would be Well You Can Do What You Want.

Congrats on the silence from the Missus. Even if she rolled her eyes, if you didn't see it, it didn't happen.
    Nice!

Great shave Terry! Have you tried the following blades?

    Gillette Nacet

To me these are the sharpest blades below Feathers.
