  7. I've seriously considered having some of my favorite handles with badger knots re-knotted with APShave Co or PAA synthetic knots. They are indeed that good. They dig out soap from the puck by way of fine fibers instead of depending on backbone. While you can name your backbone preference given the options available with synths nowadays, they almost magically load even triple-milled soaps with equal ease as that of boars and badgers. I'm totally sold on synthetics and that's based on performance alone (moral convictions notwithstanding).

  11. I recommend APShave Co's SynBad, SilkSmoke, or Cashmere knots.

Of if you're interested in complete brushes, APShave Co does offer that, but stateside options would be PAA's The Green Ray or The Starcraft.

Each one of the aforementioned options is super cheap, yet top performance.
  12. Now there is a great shave

    Soap - Stirling Iced Pineapple
    Brush - The Canuck
    Post - Alum

It's Menthol Monday! Staying with the EJ and Voskhod for the basic setup and adding in the Stirling Iced Pineapple to get that great pineapple scent along with the cold menthol kick. The Iced soaps from Stirling bring a great chill with them and they are fantastic to have around. The Canuck with its flat top SynBad knot handled the lather with great ease. Three slow and luxurious passes to a BBS finish and it was a great way to end a fairly lazy Monday.

Speaking of Stirling, the Cartel Politburo has declared that Stirling is and will be, henceforth, the official soapmaker to the Cartel. Rod @ezlovan produced an absolute spot on perfect soap for us this year so we'll just keep challenging him year after year to keep it up. No pressure. Have a great Tuesday!
