For my 9th outing with the Occams I used a fresh blade. Removal and Insertion of the blade by hand was really easy, and very quick.
I found the Schick Proline blade to be more forgiving than the feather blade , and the Shave was very smooth and comfortable with a nice close all round finish. I think with the Feather Blade there is a temptation to try and get too
close a Shave.

This is my fourteenth shave with this blade. My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Morning TOST Shave Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #369 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Valet AutoStrop VB1 razor with a Valet AutoStrop blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Pinaud Clubman AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

A change of Razors today, from the skeletal Occams to the heavyweight " Streamline". I know I have been getting good
Shaves with the Occams , but to be honest to get an ultra close Shave does take some time, whereas with the Streamline I get a really Top Notch finish much quicker.

Jim to extend the life of the blade are you stropping it, or doing anything else to it?. Getting 15 shaves out of a vintage blade is awesome.

The 24mm SHD from Maggard's that I put on this vintage Simms brush may have ruined me for future brushes. Just love it.

The felce aromatica too is wonderful. It never seems to diminish in quantity--a few swipes on the puck is enough for 3 passes and then some. Great product once you get used to the scent being more of what I would call cologne-style.

Ever Ready still performing great except under the nose. Fun and calming to shave with.

I lost track of how many shaves I had on the 1st blade if my first SE experience, but today I put a new one in and *WOW* what a difference. I probably had 4-6 shaves on the 1st blade but was feeling like it needed a change, and it did.

Based on about a week into my SE experience, I seem to get more shaves from DE blades--not sure yet if this is typical. Either way, just a great shave today.

 

Yep. It is my AutoStrop challenge. They originally guaranteed 500 shaves from 12 blades. That averages out to about 42 shaves per blade. The stropping extends the life of the blades. I am using the one blade, but I am changing AS razors every five shaves. Monday, my VB2 is up to bats.

 

I hope the blades make it Jim. I wonder if those blades could be resharpened after you get done with the 500 Shave Challenge.

These days I wonder why folk regard this Razor as one to be wary of, even with a new blade the Shave was smooth. A good quality finish was attained on the upper face, but after using the Occams V2 I am somewhat disappointed with the finish around the neck.
