    TOST Thursday's Shave
    zcws.jpg

    Cold Water Rinse
    Morning TOST Shaving Soap
    Jayaruh #375 Synthetic
    Valet VB2
    Valet AutoStrop (24)
    CWR
    Dove Men+Care Post Shave Balm

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Morning TOST Shaving Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #375 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Valet VB2 razor with a Valet AutoStrop blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Dove Men+Care Post Shave Balm. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
  6. •1914 w/Gem blue (1st pass)
    •Senator w/vintage Gillette Super Stainless (2nd)
    •some soap from The Box

2 pass BBS, except for the goatee I left intact. Six weeks of beard was filling in fine but below the jawline on both sides it was had gotten all white and disturbingly curly. Had to go. I was used to how the full beard felt but even partly clean shaven does feel better, ESPECIALLY when you apply a big slap of vintage AV Ice Blue spiked with extra menthol. Hoo boy.

Did discover to my surprise that the Senator has a little difficulty taking off a full beard, unlike a NEW. The doors had to be loosed a good bit for it to work well but then there was too much bite. I knew the SE would take it right off without a hitch, so I switched to the '14 for mowing and back to the Senator for cleanup. Gonna make the Senator my daily driver for awhile.

  9. My pleasure.

    Thank you!

Thanks! Mike Simone of Island Bladeworks does nice work. He also did my moose antler brush, "Bullwinkle"

Very cool. That razor handle, especially the ferrule, looks like mahogany. I know it's gunkote, but still the way the light's capturing it, it looks like wood to me.

    Nivea Cool Kick ASB
    Bleu de Chanel EdP

This is the original Viking Sensitive cream from Bulgaria which I received about six years ago from a generous gentleman on another wetshaving forum. The scent is nothing special, but the lather and skincare are fantastic. The Nivea Cool Kick balm is so moisturizing and soothing, as well as slightly cooling. Two passes were all I needed to get a good BBS shave.

Thanks Matt. I liked this color option they offered. I think it was the Cubano edition.

TIL: Personna blades and the r41 do not mix
This was the worst shave in a long time. It felt fine as I shaved, but I got lots of burn and blood on my neck and even my cheeks. Perhaps these blades are too sharp for this razor. I'm going to take a few days off to heal.

    Rating: 3 / 5

Razor: Mühle R41 head on Rockwell 6s handle
    Blade: Personna Lab Blue
    Brush: Jayruh Slugger 159

    Aftershave: B&M Diamond
    Additional Care:
    Tamanu Oil
  15. Sorry about the bad shave. Too sharp? Is that possible? Perhaps a bad blade.
