I was not able to take a photo today. Just as well, I guess. The Ralf Aust was feeling a little bloodthirsty it seems. Starting with the tip of my thumb while I was stropping it. Really. That's a first for me. Got my right cheek on the first pass. Got my left cheek on the second pass. Not major slices or anything. Just enough to get my attention. So for the first time since I don't know when, there was no third pass. Too much coffee this morning? Whatever. Stirling R4L was the one bright spot in it all.

Sorry about the cuts, Robert! I get them when I don't focus in that split second. It is frustrating when I have a great shave in the process and on my last pass I get the red liquid oozing out. Stuff happens and thankfully our cuts are a once in a blue moon occurence.

Miami Vice! Sadly enough, a buddy and I went as Crockett and Tubbs to a Grade 12 dance. I was Tubbs in a smashing Silver double-breasted jacket, red woven tie, black baggy pants and white ‘web’ shoes...not my finest moment. How we remained single defies logic.:happy097:

    Stirling Spice SS
    Surrey/VDH boar
    Suribachi bowl
    Cool tap water
    Yaqi DOC Mellon
    Maggard SS handle
    Shulton Old Spice AS
SOTD 07152019.gif This cap and base I got from John @John Ruschmeyer in a trade. It still throws me a bit of confusion. Huge blade exposure, very effective reduction, but it feels mild while using it. Paired it with a MR18 stainless handle that's 4.2 inches long. I didn't check which blade's loaded since it was working well enough. The old boar brush was a garage sale find for a buck to replace one I gave to a neighbor in his Newbie kit. It dropped 3-6 bristles like they usually do. Stirling lather was the usual high quality and hydrated to Joseph @Primotenore's standard of easy rinsing. Three and three quarters passes, no errors,, nearly perfect but for the tiniest lower neck misses. Old Shulton Old Spice for the finish & win.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

    Triple SOTD post:
Over the last two weeks or so, ive been using arko almost exclusively, as well as testing out the proraso with the schick injector, and i must say that it works very well. I've noticed i dont need quite as much slickness when using an injector, so the proraso works perfectly. As for the Arko, its absolutely unbeatable. The slickness and lather it produces when face lathering is unbeatable, and the stuff lasts forever! Ive attached a photo showing how much ive used compared to a fresh stick in a four month period where i used it for a minimum of twice a week. Its my go to for speed shaves, and i find myself using it more and more lately.

    Shave 1:
    Razor: schick injector
    Blade: schick platinum ultra (16)
Brush: Wilkinson sword classic shave premium
    Soap: arko shave stick
    Aftershave Balm: prep

    Shave 2:
    Razor: Schick injector
    Blade: schick platinum ultra (17)
    Brush: Omega 49
    Soap: proraso sapone
    Aftershave Balm: prep

    Shave 3:
    Razor: schick injector
    Blade: schick platinum ultra (17)
Brush: Wilkinson sword classic shave premium
    Soap: arko shave stick
    Aftershave Balm: prep[IMG][IMG][IMG]

This was more of an investment than a purchase. You don't see Ranger Tech's in this condition much anymore. I regret selling mine. It was a user grade 1941 model and it gave a comfortable smooth shave when loaded with a Feather. Very nice razor, congrats to you for buying it.
