SOTD July 16, 2019 Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap Blade: vintage Personna Ultra Chrome Razor: Schick L5 'Revere' Brush: Surrey restored badger Soap: Soap Commander 13A▲ Post: Witch hazel, Jeeves of Hudson Street Tobacco Bay Leaf aftershave Another excellent shave with the 13A▲ soap. I don't mind a month's shaves on one soap if the soap is high quality, and this one certainly is. A little Jeeves for Tobacco Tuesday and the first shave with the Schick Revere in a few months. Great razor. Very nice overall. Enjoy your day!
July Focus C.O. Bigelow~~Simpson~~Ralf Aust~~Proraso When it comes to straight shaving, there is always something to learn. Today was no exception. I have always been using short strokes, but I realized (finally) that I was "lifting" the razor off of my skin between each stroke. Today, I kept the razor "touching the skin" and the results were noticeably better. Now, I did get a few weepers, as I have to adjust the pressure, but I am feeling pretty good about what happened. Excellent "Italian" shave with the Proraso products. (IMO, best tube cream on the market) The Persian Jar was nimble and face-lathered the cream to a lovely consistency. Considered a short "bluem" of the cream, but vetoed that thought. Results were terrific and this shave ranks as one of my best since turning to the Dark Side.
Excellent recap and photo Joseph. It is always nice to learn new tricks that make the process easier and more productive. Good job.
July 16, 2019 Supply Co V2 with 2 dot plate Schick Proline Alpha 400 with Maggard SHD Oleo Shiloh Shave Soap & Aftershave Another very busy day ahead. I am trying to take care of all work related items in hopes that I might be able to enjoy Barcelona without attending to work. I loaded and overloaded the Oleo Shiloh in hopes of finishing off the soap today. Despite my best efforts the soap held on for at least one more shave. Three passes and touch ups ended with the baby just escaping. As usual my lower right neck aided in the escape. A splash of the matching Shiloh aftershave and I am off to my office for the day. I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday.
Lovely picture, Clint! Hope your day is as productive as it can be. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Congrats on excellent progress with straight razors. You dove in head first and kept swimming! Nice photo and I always like a Bigelow shave.
