  1. Very nice setup Mark!
I'll second that. I'd probably gave up and quit wet shaving if I hadn't found the 30DC and did a rule or 2. Now I'll shave with ANYTHING!

  4. I went to a couple of Bears games way back when. They played at the old Mile High stadium. The Colorado Rockies were the local NHL team back then. They left one night and became the New Jersey Devils.

  7. I promise that if you dedicate one month to master the fundamentals, then the rest of your overall razor experience will be better than those who don't. One month, however many shaves that might happen to be.

Thanks for hanging out with us. May all the shaves be smooth.

  8. Thanks, Andrew! Didn't quite arrange it, and tomorrow is back to the doctor's office to check how his work is doing. No worries since I didn't have plans. Might get a nap tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks Clint! Since going on dialysis his health has improved. This latest procedure was rerouting a vein and artery for easier self sealing needle sticks. He'll get the plastic chest tubes (possible infection site) out when this rerouted plumbing heals.
  9. Prayers offered for his continued improved health, Rick. Also for yours, Paul @Paul Turner. And your boss's, @Terry!

  10. As others have said, Welcome to the 30DC, Jon! My name is John too.

A 30 day Rule is a great way to master your technique quickly, or later to isolate and fix any flaws that creep in. The time goes by fast and the results are well worth it. Sounds like a nice setup you have chosen.

The best time to start is Right Now! Nothing says the 30 days have to run in sync with the month. Start now and go to mid-August.

  11. Wednesday evening July 17 - cleaning up for Society

PAL Adjustable on middle of dial / some kind of injector blade with unknown number of uses
Simpsons CH2 Chubby Synthetic Bristles brush
Stirling Coniferous soap and splash sample
    Alum

I had a political barbecue social to go to this evening so I polished myself up immediately beforehand. Shower and then mow the stubble. The Simpsons Chubby face lathered the usual fantastic Stirling lather with the usual fantastic Stirling performance and postshave feel. Two passes with the PAL had me back to a near-BBS DFS with no errors. A healthy splash of the splash to continue the scent of the soap and I left the house smelling like I was fresh from clearcutting a chunk of our northern forest. Great shave!

Hope the week is going well for everyone!

  13. Yikes! It's already tomorrow. I started my day with another couple of things that I haven't used in ages. Catie's Bubbles Florentine Fern, and the Ever Ready 1914. The soap is awesome. In the tub I mostly just smell Fennel. But once it's lathered a really nice fougere comes out. I should have grabbed the matching aftershave while it was around. Oh well.
The 1914 seemed a little harsh. Took off the whiskers alright. And took a few corpuscles too. Another razor that I need to reacquaint myself with.

  18. Don't sweat the weeper's, the chin can be hard to navigate at times. Happened to me last week with my Shick L model Injector. It turned out that my blade had quit on me mid-shave. Put in a new Chinese Schick and the rest of my shave was like a hot knife going through butter.
