I have been watching all the specials about the moon landing and events leading up to it this week. I watched the space program ever since it started back in 1958. I remember driving down to Clear Lake, TX, where the astronauts lived when I was taking drivers ed in the summer of 1963. In 1970, when I was driving for Houston Shell and Concrete, I poured concrete for a pad at NASA Space Center. I decided that next week, I will use my Gillette Techmatic. That was the razor used in space back then. I did not have fond memories of that razor, probably because I had poor technique in the 60s. However, a few months back, I revisited it and found it to shave just fine. So, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, I will be breaking out my Gillette Techmatic. It is a SE razor after all. If you have a Gillette Techmatic, I invite you to join me. airandspace.si.edu/collection-objects/razor-and-shaving-cream-apollo-11 This shaving equipment was carried aboard the Apollo 11 mission by astronaut Michael Collins as part of his personal preference kit. Both pieces were readily available in drugstores.
I'm using my Z3 Flare Tip this week, but I'm wearing my Omega Speedmaster similar to the one on Buzz Aldrin's wrist.
Awesome watch. I love the Speedmaster. I wonder how much Buzz's watch is worth today?..... Probably astronomical. *badum-tish*
My family watched the Moon Landing from Salzburg, Austria, where my Dad was invited to teach law to "aspiring" Austrian law students.
In honor of all moon landing conspiracy theorists, I'm going to say I shaved today when I really didn't. I faked the whole thing.
