Ah the memories of a young lad being taken to the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company for groceries.

The amazing speed and accuracy of each item being hand keyed at checkout.

The stocking clerks clacking away with their price marking device on every item.

The line of registers, each equipped with a custom Hobart coffee grinder for the Eight O'clock that was always ground at/after purchase, filling the store with its wonderful aroma.

And the best part for my mom, the stack of S&H Green Stamps given with the mile long register tape.

For those here still interested in shaving technique.............
    Wet slippery lather
    Sharp instrument
    Draw/stretch the skin tight
Low as you can use to cut - blade angle
Low as you can use to cut - pressure
Target comfort, the rest will fall in place
That's how it was done then!

That's the best part Terry. If I detected any AS still on my hands I was running my fingers through my 'air, or on the sides my hair. Since many AS provide a bit of care for the face, they work on elbows, too. I will often hold a door for a Lady. Now I'll be new & improved with fresh scent.
Last couple years we lost three old Krogers locations. One I'd shopped at since the '80's. With two setting empty one other has been repurposed as a trampoline jump house.
Vague memories of S&H stamps, but don't remember ever swapping full books for a prize. Must have been targeted at adult or female products? So I looked it up. A page from the 1975 catalogue offered shave related products!

Short and sweet, less than 1000 words. No photo? Details man!
I hear that. Some of my early purchases and trades are getting hard to remember. I know I like the gear, but where did it come from?

    July As You Like It!

Wickham Soap Co 1912 Scottish Heather
Omega 48 (or 49?) boar brush
    Suribachi bowl, cool water
    Ming Shi 2000s on 6/6
    Gillette Sliver Blue
    Avon Blue Blazer AS
SOTD 07202019.png Only 36 +/- hours since previous shave, but I was feeling it. Fresh outdoorsy scent and slick lather from the veggie soap. Unknown number of uses on the blade, but plenty sharp for three passes. Lots of noise from the big gap blade holder. Riding the cap gave an error free reduction, and did very well for the lower neck hard to catch zone. Splashed on the vintage Avon lotion & treated my elbows to the leftovers.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Hi guys! It was a hot day on Long Island and had to use my new Old Spice Captain deodorant. First time I ever used it. You won't believe it, but it smells like Stirling's Blood on Steel scent. By the way, my sinuses cleared up a bit and the smell of BoS is really nice. Also, I washed my face this morning with the free sample of Stirling's Bergomot Lavender bar soap. I didn't like the scent. To me, it was not a bright scent, more like a subdued smoky scent, but I don't mean a tobacco smell. Anyway, you guys have my morning shave review and now you have my surprising deodorant and soap review.

Thanks Patrick & Gary! The soap & AS lotion courtesy of The Traveling Box Round One. We're on Round Two now and the cool gear keeps getting better.
That Avon product is from 1965, smells good to me, and sells on the bay for near forty bucks. Not a bad pick up for the twenty dollars shipping. I know Gary has been watching as The Box moves around. If enough of yous guys want in I'm thinking we could get it across the border.
