Joseph Rodgers & Sons Cutlers To Their Majesties No.6 Norfolk Street Sheffield England. This was tarnished, and rusted all over, with a chippy blade. It's a Monkey Tail Razor. Before After
Wade & Butcher Sheffield This one looked like someone tried to remove the rust, with a Pumas Stone, at one time. It took a lot of sanding, before I finally just called it done enough. It was nice and tight, as well as centered, but covered with deep rust. Before After
Adoration 295 Giesen & Forsthoff Solingen This one came with a separated scaled, that required sanding and gluing. The scales were also cleaned, and slightly polished. The blade was dangerously loose, and micro chippy, as well as needing some polishing. All taken care of, as much as possible. The scales had some permanent stains towards the heel, that I couldn't get out. Before After
Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. "The Colonial" "1835" Made in Germany 11/16+ inch Before Rusted and tarnished. After. Due to the location, of the rust, on the blade, the etching, "The Colonial", was lost. But, most of the rust was removed. The discoloration was removed from the covered tang. After cleaning the scales, the Cherubs were easily seen.
Just a scale mod... Such a beautiful and intricate design, but I felt it gets lost in the black. Technically, there is some gunk to make it stand out. Thought silver leaf Rub ‘n Buff could give me the pop I was looking for. I like the change. Have fun. Tom
More scale fun for a friend... This looked melted. But it had enough width where I could thin up the profile. Out came the dremel with a 240 sanding disc for the reshaping. Then 400-800-1000-Flitz-Renaissance Wax to finish her up. And One Henry Sears & Son on it’s way back into business. Not a beauty queen, but it will do. Enjoy your projects. Tom
Light work on a Heljestrand MK31 Doubt these scales are original to the blade, but I like them. Before: Seller’s photo After: I’m a sucker for a Helje to play with. Tom
Thread has been a little dormant... Bartmann 89 Manganese Steel Seller’s pics, followed by a little elbow grease of 0000 steel wool and Flitz. Now: Backside then: And now: Not a heavy lift by any means, but I think a little more pleasing to the eye. Have fun. Tom
