  5. Wednesday SOTN

Well, not the smoothest shave tonight. TBH, I'm definitely partly to blame as I have no idea how old the Schick blade in my Supply SE Injector razor was. I quit at 2.5 passes as I was getting some irritation. My neck isn't entirely happy tonight. Tossed the blade and will try again fresh on Thursday or Friday. Oh well , not every shave can be perfect when you cycle around quite the mixed bag of razors. Night all.

    Josh

  6. ZEN SHAVING

    • Brush: BS Synth. (New version)
    • Razor: YUMA
    • Blade: Rapira SS (#3)
    • Soap: Kent SB2 (MWF)
    • A/S: Witch Hazel.

Such a relaxed, chilled shave this morning.

I started of by wafting the damp brush at the soap and using it to wet my beard as a pre-shave. I then sorted out my stuff, brushed my teeth, deoderant, etc. Quick rinse, and we proceeded. Again, i am trying the WTG-ATG-XTG twist noted by others in the techniques thread. The Kent soap (MWF) is marvellous. I only have to look at it to get a lather. How people struggle to lather it is a mystery to me.

The Witch Hazel is just that. Its an alcohol based version, perfect for a neutral A/S when i want to use cologne instead.

The brush? Hmm. Its a better attempt at a synthetic than the older (and unrefined) BS brush but the backbone is severe if you catch the knot clumping up. It doesn't like splaying to easily, although its fine when it does. Perfect size and shape for F/L though.

I had to stop myself from over-shaving lol. I could have kept on lathering and swishing away 'til the cows came home.

  12. Tommy, actually it is not an after shave but just cologne, very similar to most colognes around: 4711, Roger & Gallet, etc.

I like it very much and matches perfectly the scent of TOBS Jermin St. for sensitive skin (and sensible users ;) ) and T&H # 10.
It smells a lot like TOBS!

It is sold at the Farmacia Vaticana (Vatican Pharmacy) inside the borders of the Vatican City and can be bought with a Pope's written permit only! :D

(I had to marry a bishop to get it... :( )

I also use the Lavender: very good IMO. Very Mediterranean and much different from British Lavenders and not complex/articulate as those from across the channel.

Very much like most Italian, French and Spanish Lavenders: European Union exists for serious purposes! What do you think?

    TOST Thursday's Shave
    zcws.jpg

    Cold Water Rinse
    Morning TOST Shaving Soap
    The Brush by Tom
    Gillette Techmatic
    Techmatic Adjustable
    CWR
    Granddad's Blend AS

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Morning TOST Shaving Soap face lathered well with The Brush by Tom. I did two passes with the Gillette Techmatic razor with a Techmatic Adjustable razor band and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Granddad's Blend AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/Wilkinson day 4
    Alluvian Norwegian Spear SS
    Prep ASB
    Mennen Skin Bracer AS Splash

My fourth day using this Wilkinson blade and it still feels like it’s brand new - did it ever do a great job of getting me BBS in only two passes. This Alluvian soap is the most expensive one I have and now that I think of it I don’t think I would buy it again because despite the fact that it’s excellent, I feel that 38,00$ is too much to spend on such a small container. The soap has a lovely spearmint/clovey type of scent, the lather is so thick, dense, and rich as well as protective, and the skincare is pretty good. The Prep needs no description and the Skin Bracer felt great when I slapped it on. I’m going soon for a manicure and a pedicure at the salon where my wife works!

  19. Never fear. Stirling Frost Drops or M-Bomb to the rescue if Glacial Satsuma has eluded you.

A Satsuma fan would love the aftershave. Is has got to be one of the longest lasting citrus scents.

Hopefully the geriatric Alice Cooper fans like it too.
