This is NOT my shave today (old photo), but IS my view for the weekend. We were planning a quick getaway to Destin, Florida today through Sunday but had a chance yesterday to leave early and add a night to the trip. So we did. Looking forward to some time in the ocean and the pool and eating some good seafood.

Funny enough, the only thing in this photo that I still own is the Featherweight. That brush was PIFed away and the Citrus Musk was used up or poured down the drain. I got rid of all my Arko......

I brought along Soap Commander 13A▲ to continue with my focus.

  8. And now....it's time for The Friday Files......2nd edition:

In The Art Of Manliness website, there's an article listing and discussing the "6 Forgotten Drugstore Aftershaves/Colognes." Some commenters wondered why, if Aqua Velva made the list, why was Mennen Skin-Bracer left off? Maybe AoM believes that Skin Bracer is more of a "go to" aftershave than Aqua Velva. I'm sure there'd be many arguments either way. By the way, the other 5 are Clubman, Brut, Old Spice, Hai Karate, and Stetson.

-Boy, I'm going to miss my Rise collection once this last shaving cream can is finished., even though the original Rise is out of stock(and I suppose has been for decades). Something goofy is going on down at RiseGrooming..... there are no Rise products available now! What gives with that???

-In previous posts, I discussed my anger at the Chiseled Face website for not helping me get a new password. I completely forgot the one I had. CF's policy was for users to list our original passwords, then make up our new one. To me, that didn't make sense because completely forgetting one's password is "kinda" a valid reason for wanting a new one...don't you think?(I say "don't you think", the way Jack Palance did in his Skin-Bracer ad.."Confidence is sexaahhh, don't you think?"). I think there's a new design for the CF website now....hopefully dropping the rule that to get a new password we must list the old one first).

    Good morning!

Terrific shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS.

I've fallen behind a little on the thread this morning. Been busy packing, filling the truck with gas and running it through the car wash. Heading out for a weekend trip to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We honeymooned in Glenwood Springs. I made us reservations at the same hotel we stayed in 30 years ago. We are actually driving about 40 minutes past to visit with my mom for the afternoon before heading back to Glenwood.

    Have a great Friday!

  15. It's funny because I have Aqua Velva, Clubman and Old Spice in my den. Obviously, they are not forgotten by me.

  16. Maybe the article was meant to serve as a reminder to "new wave shave freaks" that the old ones are still pretty great.

  17. I'm glad you're in for August, Randy. For awhile, I've kept a bar of shave soap on the counter to use as facial soap. It works pretty good for that purpose and speeds up consumption. Sometimes I'll use the bar for both facial washing and shaving. You can also rub the puck on your face like a shave stick.

We have options if we need to reach you quickly...
