  1. Thank you for the kind words, Terry! At this time, a year ago, I wasn't thinking of diving into straight razor shaving, let alone shavette shaving. Gee, I didn't even know what a shavette was and now, I am such an advocate for the Dovo shavette that got me started on my straight razor journey. I was a DE safety shaver and had just bought my '67 Gilette Slim and afterwards, my Rocky 6C. I don't know what triggered (pun intended) me into taking the plunge. I guess curiosity. Anway, the first time I used my Dovo shavette, I was in awe. It was dynamic because here is a klutz using a tool that can cause some serious damage and I was hooked. Looking back, I might not have met you guys here if I didn't make that decision. It is an amazing story.

  7. Adjustable Arko August!!

    August 5

    Razor - 1960 (F4) Gillette Toggle (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - Omega Pro 48
    Post - Alum

An interesting day today. I spent some time back in a familiar environment today. Got a mic put in my face for a 30 minute podcast that turned into over an hour. A face made for radio. It's been, oh, 30 years or so since I've been on the air but it all kicked right back in. Fun to be back behind a mic and being put on the spot. Hopefully it will sound as good when it airs as it did in my head. The main difference between now and the studios back then? Well for one no turntables anymore. No tape machines anymore. And less hair on the guy's head who is talking.

After that we had an early dinner, my wife set out to do some of that therapy thing she does, and I chilled and got caught up on some paperwork and financial stuff that I needed to handle. So, with everything done, time to shave. Third shave with the Toggle and Voskie along with the Arko. For tonight's brush, back to the first "real" brush I ever bought. The Omega Pro 48. I remember when this thing showed up I was a bit taken aback by its huge size. Didn't know it was that big! But I used it almost exclusively for quite awhile before trying others. It's a beast and even without a lot of work you can load three passes of lather into it. It has a splay that covers your whole head. I got the three passes out of it and the razor did fine work, leaving me smooth as a baby's butt and the alum quiet. Fine shave from some fine gear all across the board.

Have a great rest of your night and an even better Tuesday!

  12. Great shave John!
Thanks Terry. That stuff took me to my happy place .
  13. very cool sir..i was on this forum for a while before i joined in on the crew..been shaving a lot of years already and knew i would figure stuff out..however..ride the cap ,shave rinse repeat for a constant routine is what changed things for me here..i went from 3 times a week to almost daily ..thats when the face toughened up more..now i have and always will use vintage gillettes as they were the good change for me, they have history yadayada and they all shave very similarly.but..mentally,and physically i feel better for it..awesome group of people here..sometimes one doesn't need a direct answer to a problem/question..just going along the same path with others provides the way forward..:)..anyhoo..back to shenanigans:D
  14. Omega or Semogue. Both winners

    Hahahahaha
  15. Thanks, Patrick!

    Awesome Mark!

    Very nice setup Keith!
  18. I agree because I have both brands.
  19. I dont have a Semogue but I hear so many @wchnu and others swear by them. My Omega is a workhouse.
  20. Great pic Jason. I'll never forget Father and son time I had with my Dad. Those memories last forever. Enjoy your downtime.
