If you're new to all this:

The Schick G is the gateway drug to straight razors.

    You've been warned.

Arrgh. I've been trying to justify shopping time looking for a CH2 synth, one of those 28mm 2 band SHD fan knots, a SOC Finest Taj, or a mixed badger/boar (what were those called?)...
Now I'm split another direction. :shocked029:
Guess I would enjoy a boar, too.

Yup here come the new school year! With my granddaughters going into 3rd grade, multiplication & division gets introduced. Their almost 4 year old brother starts Pre-K and he know his colors, can sing that alphabet song, & is already well based in number theory,

Wise words, Jim. I've seen your family photos, and you guys all look very fit and active. You were one of my early encouragers, with your posts about going to the gym for morning workouts, and I very much appreciate that.

Thanks Perry. I use a free app called LoseIt! I'm sure it's similar to My Fitness Pal.

I also track my weight using an Excel spreadsheet. The spreadsheet allows me to look at the past 1 to 2 months of weight data to see if I'm holding, or trending either up or down. I fit a straight line to the data set to see the overall trend. This helps me stay focused over the long-term and not get overly concerned to point of giving up or feeling guilty if I go off track for a short while. I fully expect to go off track for short periods of time, and I've already "forgiven" myself.

I'll continue to add data to my current chart through the end of August to look at a full two months of data. As I roll into September, I'll drop July off the chart and begin looking at August and September. The red line shows that I'm making gradual progress toward my 200 lb target. Depending on the day, my weight fluctuates by 2 or 3 lb, but the red line tells the story. When I reach my target, my weight will continue to vary above and below it. My goal, then, will be to keep the slope of the red line fairly flat and to minimize the extent of the variation within reason. It sounds overly complicated, but it's actually an easy tool for me to use.

In my job, we tracked key metrics on scorecards. The general belief was that you can't improve something if you don't measure it and take action when necessary. I'm trying to apply this to my overall health as well.

This works for me. It would drive other people nuts. :)

Thanks Joe. We had a nice time with Kathy's aunt. Everyone had a job to do (food prep, grilling, making the stir fry, clean up, etc.), and then we shared a nice meal. She's like a second Mom to both of us. She just turned 83. We try not to take things for granted. We're considering taking her with us on a trip. It has been awhile since we've done this. Over the years, we've taken some memorable trips with her and her husband, who passed away a few years ago. He was like a second Dad to me as well.

After my shower and several close interactions with Mr. Toothbrush and Mrs. Mouthwash, I have been declared officially odor-free. I got a little carried away yesterday enjoying the roasted garlic. :)

We had a large container of peppers, and we weren't sure about their spiciness. Looking at them, I would have bet money they were HOT. It turns out they were very sweet, especially after they were cooked. My Bride didn't want to prepare them until she was sure they wouldn't burn her fingers. She had a bad experience with some peppers last year. So I took a bite outta one and didn't die, so we got 'em ready for the grill.

Thanks gentlemen. I appreciate the encouragement.

Rick, the app is called LoseIt! You can also take care of business here: https://www.loseit.com It will help you determine a daily calorie target based on your age, current weight, and how fast you want to lose weight. Most foods are already included in the LoseIt! library, so it's fairly easy to keep track of calories. If you want to add some of your own foods, you can do that also. I've added a few of Kathy's kitchen creations (possum stew, poodles 'n noodles, etc.) to the library that we enjoy from time to time.

There are 50 days in August, Jim. @Douglas Carey has exactly the right amount of soaps for his August focus.

Thank you for sharing Charlie! I found the app in the Google Play store, and will view the website, too. I've tracked this kind of data with graph paper but that's old school. With a digital scale and hand held computer (phone) it'll be a snap!

Brush hand crafted in Canada by Jason @jtspartan and fitted with an APShaveCo synthetic knot. Lather stirred up in a textured ceramic dish from Osaka, Japan via Jack @Sparrow. The old five dollar DE still shaving well with a blade of unknown uses. Three full passes plus lots of fiddling to catch those pesky lower neck stubbles. They got caught scoring a smooth DFS or better. Nice face feel from the soap that shares a cedar, tonka, & lavender palate with the aftershave.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

I forgot about that! When I found myself in Westminster walking Bond and Jermyn Streets, I had to make TSD's best mod (and one I consider a good man and friend) shared the day with me. And correct, it came over the Atlantic in my shoulder bag on an airplane.
