The VC-1 is so smooth and efficient, less than 16hrs since my last shave and zero irritation, that says it all.
    Happy Shaving one and all.

  5. Good review, Matt, but honestly, I can't figure out how you are defining "gourmand"? Typo?

    Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/Wilkinson day 7
Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic SS
    Prep ASB
Reef Point Fougere Santal AS Splash
    Bleu de Chanel EdP

The Wilkinson blade surprised me because it held up well enough for all three passes so I was able to get a hell of a nice BBS shave but tomorrow morning I’m going to change it. The MITA soap I used is the regular version - it has that lovely citrusy/tropical scent that I enjoy so much, it gives magnificent lather which is super rich as well as slick, and a great menthol sensation along with the typical fantastic Stirling postshave care. It’s so hard to beat the Prep - in fact it became my favorite balm. My darling wife gave me the Fougere Santal aftershave which smells so beautiful and gives plenty of menthol cooling as well. Today we’re going to the cemetery to visit my Dad and I’m going to say the memorial prayers for him.

    Sunday's Shave

    Cold Water Rinse
    LaToja Shaving Stick
    Jayaruh #296 Brush
    Superior Lather Catcher
    CVS CS Blade
    CWR
    Granddad's Blend

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The LaToja Shaving Stick face lathered well with the Jayaruh #296 Brush. I did two passes with the Superior Lather Catcher razor with a CVS CS Blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Granddad's Blend AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
  11. Yeah, it was new to me until I used Mammoth's "Mood Indigo". I was surprised with how well it worked---not being a heavily sweet or berry fragrance, but as a very unique top note of natural blueberry. At which point, I kept my eye out for other blueberry-centric fragrances, and Blugère fits the bill.

Nope, it's a word, and a useful one in describing fragrances. In the fragrance context, it means the fragrance smells like something edible. I don't like fragrances that make me smell edible, but when it's isolated to the opening, I enjoy it. Blugère doesn't stay gourmand. It transforms to a more traditional fougère. While Wikipedia isn't usually the best reference, in this case, it concisely defines the word, so here you go: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gourmand_(fragrance)

a/s: vintage Skin Bracer Wild Moss. First time I've tried it. Nice green scent up front, as you'd expect, but dries down to a moderate amount of powder and not much else. Similar to Clubman but greener and not quite as cloying.

  16. I love the Timeless Aluminum as is but if it were my design it would have a bit more heft, balance closer to the head and have a shorter handle, 80mm being my favorite for my head shave.

This hack does all three. Bronze cap and tungsten weighted New CB handle brings weight to 64g and balance point where I like it without compromising the razor's basic geometry.
