TOBS Sandalwood is my most frequently used soaps, primarily bowl lathered with badger brushes.

This evening I had one of the best shaves I've ever had for three days of growth. Normally if I shave with under 4 days of growth the blade just feels raspy and rough. Doesn't matter the blade, razor, soap, prep, doesn't matter. So I usually end up with a nick or two.

Tonight's shave was definitely different. I'm traveling, so my kit was basic. Schick E3 Injector, Case badger brush, and Jeeves of Hudson Street's Cabal soap. I let the brush soap in hot water while I showered. I then flicked excess water out, loaded up the brush, and began to face lather (I normally bowl at home). The moment I put the blade to my face I knew something was different. Everything was so smoooth. One pass, relather, a second pass, then lather with some touch ups and done. Not a nick to be had. I'm going to say the primary driver for this was the soft water. But man was it good.

Thanks Tim. You are the master of sets but I like this for a change. Too many products and many get neglected. The brush is cool. I like the way the metal honeycomb changes the color of the green as it gets closer to the surface. It definitely was a nice addition.

I'm totally with you on the spa experience thing. It starts my day off so much better since I have been wet shaving. Honestly I also agree that tallow or not don't matter for quality. I like my non-Tallow soaps the best actually. I think it just comes down to the formulation. I don't have issues with either but overall think the PAA soaps work the best for me, my water, and skin. I also enjoy Dr. Jon's. I just hate the metal tins. They are always banged up. I emailed them about it, but the response was to save the environment from plastic. I don't agree with the reasoning, but nevertheless still buy and like their products and respect their position.

Shave #2 with the Karve brass razor and Astra Green blade - #1 with the D baseplate. It was a wonderful shave. Truly smooth as silk despite 2 days of growth. I needed this before laying down for a short rest before getting on a plane really early in the AM to Alabama. Night all.

    Adjustable Arko August!!

    August 11

    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette 195 Fatboy (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - I*V 10 Hybrid - The Moreau
    Post - Alum

Had a pretty relaxing day after being out most of last night. Time to take care of that two day beard I have every Sunday. The Fatboy and Voskhod are still loaded up as is the Arko. Just had to figure out a brush. Staying with my natural brushes and I got the hybrid out again. This brush is amazing. Great look and feel with the mesquite handle and the boar/badger knot is almost too luxurious. I went looking for one of these for the project I bought the TGN Silvertip for but they didn't have it in the right size.

The brush turned Arko into lather faster than some synthetics. Seriously, this thing eats soap and just shoves out lather. The Fatboy is wide open, obviously, and each pass was just as smooth and easy as the one before it. Three of those passes brought the baby home and left me with no irritation or burn at all from the alum. Good way to end the day. Hope you're ready for your Monday and the week beyond!
