thank you Terry..i get fantastic shaves on the lower settings so it was a "what's all the fuss about " try out.obviously if ones technique is off it could bite..having it on a lower setting does keep things more predictable if one is a little fuzzy from the night before though..;)

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick Stainless Krona
    Razor: Gillette Slim
    Brush: JR #41 badger
    Soap: Palmolive shave stick
Post: Witch hazel, TSD Iced Barber Shoppe aftershave

Here is the long-awaited Slim shave! ;)

Nice shave all around. The Slim was just fine. No issues or weepers or irritation. The last time I used a Slim was a different story, but that was probably three years ago at least and my technique is better now. Set it on 9, put in a new-to-me Schick Krona blade and got going. Easy shaving.

I've made a few more decisions to pare down my den some. I'm going to part with this Palmolive stick and the Wilkinson Sword shave stick I have. The TSD Iced Barber Shoppe soap was in an IKEA Grundtal container that developed some rust on the inside. It was already in my bottom 5 list so I tossed it. More decisions to follow as I whittle down my stuff to a more manageable level.

    Enjoy your day!

    RyX DoH!

The short answer is don't worry.

Glad you got the problem fixed! One day will computers write the programs for other computers? You'll look back to the old days when people used to do it.

That was the 1963 version. I've heard it before and think I like it more than a later Number Nine that's more of a fevered dream of a new shaver bring told #9 is where he needs to be.

Terrific picture of shave, Perry! I didn't think you would have any troubles with the Slim.

    Good afternoon, gentlemen!

Up very early this morning, well the usual time for me. My usual morning routine sans the shave. We have an evening wedding to go to. My usual 4am shave wouldn't cut it for a 6pm wedding. I'll shave sometime later this afternoon. I need another shower anyway. I washed the wife's car, then my truck. Lawn is mowed and edged and the weekly battle with the weeds is complete. I think I'm ready for a nap. Have a great day!

    Fine Lavender~~Simpson 90th Anniversary Astor~~'58 Adjustable
In keeping with this month's theme, the 1958 Gillette adjustable was chosen.
Opening it all the way up to nine, it gives a very nice shave.
I find the razor somewhat bulky and it's not exactly a light-weight.

However, Primo has above-average arm-strength, so that was not an issue.
The Fine soap is better than fine and the scent is mos def© one of my favorite lavenders.
It does require a short bloom, which I gladly gave it.
The Astor's Super Badger knot loads easily, but seeing that I purposely "baby" it, the bloom
makes loading less stressful on the badger hairs.
Fully loaded, I face-lathered the product until the nirvana stage was reached.
I am working on developing the formula for nirvana lather (patent pending, Charlie).
More to come on that subject in the near-future.
    Back to the shave...
Once again, I used the seemingly, never-dulling Personna 74 blade.
2 passes and some clean up and except for a small, hardly noticeable weeper on my neck,
the baby is in the house.
Big, juicy splash of the Fine AS as an excellent, Saturday shave came to a close.
