  2. Wise words, Patrick. One of the reasons I started traditional shaving was to de-stress and take my mind off work. I hope all is well.

    August 20th

    Proraso PS Red
    CF Lime Essential Oil SC
    Jason 30DC V2 w/Omega 10098
    J3 8/8 Kamisori
    Myrsol Agua de Limon AS

3 pass DFS today. Easy shave, no weepers, nicks or issues. The Omega knot in Jason's 30DC handle created slickery lime goodness. Painted on with ease.

A little pressed for time this morning. Dentist appt for Dad, taxi duty for kids.

A couple comparison images of the Omega 10098 knot vs the Zenith 28mm. Both were run under water, then towel dried for a few circles each direction. On the Zenith, you can see the copper stain ring (from the transplant handle), but also the tops of the glue where it seeped 'up' from the glue bump as it dried. The bottom of the glue bump is 2/3" down near the mid/second knurl.

  10. Pretty good shave this morning. A correction is in order-I had the Crown King Spindle Duro Tali brush. The Jayaruh will be happening in the next couple or 3 soap shaves. Question-does the freeze from glacial puck soaps last longer than that from cake soaps?

  11. You can sometimes find deals on working vintage mechanical Bulova watches in antique stores and on eBay. Bulovas are every bit the "Gillette" of the vintage watch world. The case backs are date coded, so you can locate a birth year watch. L1 = 1951, M1 = 1961, N1 = 1971, etc. Here's a website to whet your appetite: https://www.mybulova.com/Bulova-Vintage-and-Antique-Watches

Bulova mechanicals are cool, and their Accutron line of tuning fork watches are uber cool. Vintage Accutrons are pricey, however. Growing up, I had an Accutron Spaceview and sold it...one of my biggest watch selling regrets along with selling a Seiko "Pogue" Diver.

I currently have a birth year (1961) "His Excellency" shown with the round black dial in this 1958 ad.

    Notes:
All new stuff for this (i've used the razor before)

Soaked the brush for 30 secs. Flick dry, Loaded up on the puck and straight to face lathering. 3 passes. Wtg/Xtg/Atg

Don't like the bowl. Loading is messy and its slippery. Form/function on this one.
The new Brush is prickly. Softer back bone than my boar. The 1st lathering was weak. Noted to load longer next time. The lather was dry. This soap is thirsty. The rich lather gave too much cushion. The 34c is mild enough so cushion is not a bonus. Blades worked well. I had a DFS after 3 passes and more touchups than i normally do. Soap post-feel is great though.
Razor feels a bit uncouth after using my gillettes. The Merkur blade alignment is non existent.

For tommorow: A dryer brush for loading to reduce mess and a wetter lather is in order. Might consider bowl lathering. Blooming not required.
The combo needs little cushion so i will adjust accordingly.
I had a strong 3 day beard today so back to a daily stubble for the mild 34c may be a good idea.

This combo is lather sensitive. I get this right and i should be on the right track.

Edit: Soap and dish weight after 3 shaves is 268g
