    Don't fight the soap

So after much bloomers angst, I looked at this soap problem like the engineer i am and found the answer.

The soap is too hard for the brush or the brush is too soft for the soap. To load enough soap on the brush for a full shave without pulling the bristles out of the brush requires softening (blooming) the soap which i am fundamentally against. Using a wet brush on the soap causes much mess when loading up.

    What to do?

The answer is in the problem. If the brush/soap is struggling to get you three passes, then don't do three passes!

This time i used a wetter brush which picked up the soap much easier. At the 1st sign of lathering on the puck i pulled off and made the decision to go back to the puck later. As it happened, i got two decent passes from the the 1st loading and reloading for the last pass/touch ups gave me a much better lather than normal at that stage.

I also switched bar soap to an aleppo soap. This really helps to bring out the whiskers.

I have a good, clean comfortable shave. BBS- with some over-buffing on my neck which is a constant fault in my technique.

I feel i now have all of the parts dialed in. Now to work on the technique with this mild set up. Specifically, how to get the razor/blade combo to a close shave without over shaving. This leads me to shave #8. New blade of get a fourth out of the current one?
    Hmmm...

    SOTD:
Beautiful shave this morning, its been a while since I've used the boots original shave stick. Performance wise its very similar to arko, but i find that i need to use a tiny bit more when compared to arko, but the slickness is basically identical, so overall an excellent shave stick. I wasn't too impressed with the longevity of the voshkod blade although the first few shaves were excellent, but now that the coating has worn off it's actually sharpened up a bit, so I'll definitely be doing the Excalibur club test on this one.

Razor: Gillette aristocrat 1948 barber pole handle
    Blade: voshkod: (6)
    Brush: Omega 49
