Danny, I'm afraid I don't know the art of doing pictures here. I suppose I could learn someday, but that "someday" won't be anytime soon. I'm no techie geek.
I need a what cha ma call it to fit a thang a ma bob. If you don't have that a do hicky will work if it ain't wore out.
Thank you Danny. I will try to ride up to the N GA mountains tomorrow. I am going to visit mom today and 285 is no fun on a motorcycle.
I'm not sure how adding water and then having the equivalent amount evaporate over time modifies the base. Wouldn't it simply change the moisture content? To a certain extent, I agree that volatile components (including water) in a soap or cream evolve every time the container is opened. As such, keeping the container sealed and stored in a cool place is your best bet to maintain the original base. Using it up in a timely manner helps as well...hence, the reason for expiration dates on most commercial products. As for me, there's more variability in my technique than any variability I can introduce due to changes in soap bases over time. Just my opinion. (I am also an engineer, and I also think I know it all. )
August Focus Boellis Panama 1924~~Simpson 59~~Boker Red-Injun Last shave of August...hard to believe. It's also hard to believe, that the last few photos I have posted, were taken with an absolutely, disgustingly-dirty iPhone camera lens! Mea culpa to all the excellent photographers we have here at TSD. While this photo won't win a Pulitzer... at least it's in focus. The Boker made me work to get a close shave today. I think this is the straight that'll get a bevel reset...results to follow. Boellis Panama 1924 sits in a drawer, because the ridiculously large coffret won't sit on my shave shelf. So, it tends to dry out. Started out as a fairly soft croap; easily molded. Now, it has the firmness of a Mike's. Mos def© needs a bloom. That's exactly what it got. This soap/container look better than they perform. The coffret is cumbersome to hols, so I sit it on a towel to load. The ceramic top, imo, is always in danger of breaking. I am extremely careful. The best feature of this coffret is the extra-wide opening. You can easily load the largest of large shave brushes. Think Kent BK12, or this bad boy: While my Simpson 59 is not quite this large, it's large enough to make loading frustrating in the smaller tins which some soap manufacturers use. OK, so how is the soap... The Cherry/Almond scent is subtile, not quite as harsh as Cella. The lather is dense, but doesn't have that cushiony feel that Stirling has. The slickness is reasonable, as should be expected from a soap, which retails $45 for 250g. Is it a repurchase... Mos def© no. The Boker edge was harsh, despite being CrOx stropped. It lacks any resemblance of smooth. Especially, when compared to yesterday's Personna 74 edge. Unfair comparison, I acknowledge, but nevertheless, I have experienced much smoother straight shaves and this Boker didn't fit that bill today. I was not about to triple or quadruple pass to get a BBS shave, so I was left with a DFS- shave. Side note: My kisser is still quite presentable. Not pictured is a bottle of Nivea post-shave balm, which, after my traditional splash of Thayer's, was applied. The BP '24 EdT, I have mentioned this before, bears no relationship to the soap, other than sharing a name. It's a quality scent and always get the coveted SWMBOSOA© See you in September.
O.k.....what kind of phone are you using and do you have 6 year old around to show you how to take a picture with your phone. Paul, you can do this. That is your goal for the weekend. Take one picture with your phone and post it to this thread. We are your support group and we are here to help.
Love your recaps, Clint! Have a great time with your mom, Clint! I was wondering what you were going to do left on your own this weekend. Now I see a trip to the liquor store is on the to do list. Adult beverages and smoked meat! Oh yeah! Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
