Great shave Terry. I have a couple oldies that chatter a bit as well. Sometimes they are worn from years of daily use and sometimes they may just be bent and need a slight tweaking.

    A Stirling SEptember

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Kai Captain Mild
    Razor: RazoRock Black Hawk
    Brush: Sapele two-band badger
    Soap: Stirling Glacial Lemony Orange
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill aftershave

Excellent Menthol Monday shave and a great way to start Stirling SEptember. The Black Hawk mows down the stubble with ease and comfort. I soused or bloomed or soaked the Glacial Lemony Orange soap and whipped up some beautiful lather. Only did one pass with no touch-up since I'll be shaving tomorrow morning about 5:30.

I'm going to try something a little different with my photos this month and only include two or three elements of the shaving goods. A little more minimalist. We'll see how it goes.

Hope everyone has a great Labor Day!

Very nice, Joseph! I know you commented on your iPhone pictures recently but I find your photos to be clear, concise, and always with great colors and lighting. Bravo, sir! Enjoy your day.

Thank you, Jim! @clint64 is my inspiration for the photo change-up. Not that my photos will ever be as good as his, but he doesn't shoot all the stuff used in the shave.

I'm with you on the soap/brush combinations. Don't need argumentative nonperforming bristles failing to adequately load my soap. Blade/razor combos have leveled out for me. I do have blades I haven't tried in my stash. Those that are regulars all seem interchangeable giving similar results. This is the subjective nature of shaving.
Not an objective view here, just my personal experience. I've tried using Old Spice mugs - only good to hold a puck between shaves. If you need lids Betty Crocker ready made cake icing covers work well. Coffee mugs are only taller versions of OS mugs. My best tool is a more open dish. Less banging of brush handle and receptacle. Smooth bowls are OK, but I prefer to use a Japanese suribachi in a manner other than intended by the manufacturer. May just be my perception liking how the texture of the dish helps to incorporate soap, water, and air. My choice of bowl lathering centers on producing a uniform mix of a quantity suitable for the entire shave. Often I have excess lather that is used to wash my unshaved portions of my face. If the quantity of prepared lather is insufficient, I load a little more and keep going.
You're on your own there. In five years of shaving I still haven't filled my first used blade bank. I haven't run out of DE or SE blades. I don't count uses. If it tugs I install a new blade right then and there even in the middle of a shave.
I knew it ! You are the 30DC Historian! Back when we had that meeting, voted, and awarded the contract, rights, and responsibilities someone should have written it down. I'd call the others to task for letting you slide on your duties but none of us remember who was there.

I had one of those moments this morning. Except it was with my grandson. And it went the direct opposite way. While taking a quiet sit down moment on the porcelain throne. the very nearly 4 year old asked if I'd take the wrapper off the sucker for him. This would have been his second dose of sugar on a stick today. I told him soon as I finished my paperwork I'd be making breakfast. In the time it took to complete my personal task, get my clothes in order, and walk less than 50 feet to the kitchen - he was up on the counter trying to decide which of my 11" Wolfgang Puck chef's knives he'd use to unwrap that candy. I'm running out of high places to put stuff out of his reach.
