Awesome shave and I love the tater peeler. Should have paired it with the tater brush. Nice picture and have a great day. Congrats on the no buy weekend!

I had no adult beverages this weekend and made a few internet purchases.
Hmm, maybe I need to rethink my approach.

I asked Glen @gssixgun one time if he knew what the edge grind angle was on a DE blade. I do not recall the specific number, but it was several degrees less acute than the geometry of a straight provides for.

I don't know if I ever declared disposable blades to be sharper than straights or not, but in the sense of edge grind angle, technically they would not be sharper.

I do find a DE shavette to sever my facial hair with slightly less force than my best cutting straights. The thinness of the blade and the coatings applied are credited there for sure.

I am interested in your test findings. My first straight (a half hollow, taped spine honing) was/is an very smooth tool to use.

Excellent shave and post, Keith! I agree that shaving the chin and the moustache area against the grain tells you about blade sharpness. Also, placing more pressure than usual is definitely a sign that the blade needs to be refreshed or fully honed.
