Thanks for the recommendation Jim. I have tried several Bay Rum soaps and have two in rotation now. Of the ones, I have tried Mike's is the winner. I will give PAA AA Bay Rum a try once I use up some of the stuff today.

My apologies to you and your rock farm, Keith. Apparently Jason is using voodoo or Jedi mind tricks on me. Who knew. He’s very stealthy at this stuff.

Now I want Mike's Bay Rum!
I also enjoy lavender scents, so that's on the list as well.

It is a vicious circle. I really just stick with about 5 or 6 scents that I really like. My problem is I buy too many soaps with the same scents.

I found that i couldn't get my 404 to pick up enough soap from the puck no matter what i did, Quite the opposite for my synthetic which picks up the soap a bit too easily!
I did the mini-blooming thing of resting the damp brush on the puck, or using a sprinkle of water pre-shave but it didn't do much. To bloom Cade, you need a bowl which is deep enough to allow water to sit on top. The Cade bowl is flush with the soap so unless i removed the puck, it wasn't possible and by extension, not really envisaged as a requirement by the manufacturer.
So, to continue using my 404, i could:
    1. Remove puck from the matching bowl, place in a new bowl, submerge in water, wait, remove water, load, dry out puck, clean bloom bowl, replace puck in Cade bowl.
    2. Use a better brush.
    I picked option 2.

This logic seems to be rather unfathomable by some members of this board to the point of judgement and accusations of trolling. Quite why this is, i don't know. It is a perfect wet shaving logic as it forces you to buy more gear. What is wrong with that?:p

I would offer a another option or two for you to try. First a wetter brush will pick up more soap. Try a sopping wet brush, suds will go everywhere, but you will pick up a lot of soap. The second option, if that doesn't appeal to you, start with a damp brush and load for about 10 seconds then put a few drops of water on the soap and load for another 10 seconds. Repeat this process 3 to 5 times and see what you get. Try a few practice lathers. If you're board these videos are interesting too.

Tell you what, You give me your detailed routine of how you would load a hard soap like Cade with a Soft badger brush like the 404 and for shave #17, i will do exactly that and i will be honest and forthright in my attempt and report back!

Can't say fairer than that huh?:D

Thanks Charlie. My children, when teenagers, experienced the extended family effect. Brother in law and grandmother lived with us for years. Now my grand children see me around. All part of The Plan.
    Thanks Danny!
Still have my 1982 Honda Magna. It was a fast bike in it's day. But it's a heavy beast. Four cylinder, DOHC, 748 cc/ 45.6 cu.in that produced almost 80HP at 9500 rpm. If it didn't weigh just over 500 lbs / 228kg it's would have been scary. I never felt the urge to attempt the 12.2 second 1/4 mile or 187mph top speed.
We don't all agree on every detail, but your highlight is key.
Glycerin = slippery. I like the Green for it's strong menthol. Want to try the Red sandalwood next.
Nope. You are free to express your thoughts about any product. If you want to talk to the maker he comes around. Rod @ezlovan.
Thanks Jason! I'm optimistic. Thing is we are all issued both a birth and death certificate. Just haven't filled out the date on the second one yet.

I would go with the wet brush method. Soak the brush and pull it out of the water. Give it one shake to remove whatever water will fall with gravity. Load the soap until it becomes pasty on top of the puck. Let us know how it goes!
