    The SS are generally pretty mild. Look at the ride the cap thread here. There is lots of good information that will help tame the razor.

    If you spend too much time with @wchnu, there is only one antidote. It's kinda painful, but it's over in 45 minutes.

    he's lucky....for one special reason: I haven't heard the "Slimy Is The New Fuzzy" phrase on Animal Planet Network lately. Doesn't mean they don't SAY it anymore, just means I haven't heard it. (How's THAT for a triple-negatonia)

    @NTR
    I'm beginning to know how you feel. Real issues are getting hard to follow the results of. I checked in and two hundred replies later, just wow.
    That razor should not be acting like that. Look at it closely for assignment issues or a bent guard bar. The ss should be difficult to harm yourself with.
    If sentimental maybe an adjustment or slight alignment can be made. Take closeup pics to see what's up.

    Kind of thinking of all these comments together. And going back before I was 30DC active, but was lurking and researching (Jan/Feb/March).

    Like Perry, sometimes now I bloom a soap, sometimes not. Started in the past month or two. I usually bloom soaps that don't burst lather within a few rounds of the brush in the container. Blue Ming helps kick start that process for me with those soaps. I ain't the guy to spend 5-6 minutes (or more, my gosh, really?) to build a lather. Obviously too impatient for that. Proraso Red SS (and ToBS SC) both got me spoiled early on, they always BURST lather within 2 or 3 swirls with a wet brush, any brush. Building lather to me on slow soaps is like honing, a necessary time consuming evil that gets me to the fun part......which is pampering my face with a comfortable brush of lathery slick euphoric smelling bliss, then precisely wielding a tool that ultimately has the opposite goal, slicing it all off.

    To the point, I had some rough lathers early on. Through lurking and research, found some of the same comments Joe just mentioned again, hard water. I tested mine with a home kit. Basically said undrinkable, something like 500-600ppm. Already knew that since the 90s, but the test confirmed. We use bottled for drinking/coffee/tea/etc. from a local 'water guy/store', and his filtered, reverse osmosis liquid measures 0-1ppm, tastes wonderful. So....I used his water to shave with for a stretch. Lathers immediately improved. PITA though, had to microwave it, move it to bathroom shaving area, etc. etc. Tried bottled water...same thing. Works but PITB. Back to tap water....worked the technique, threw lots of water at the soaps, can lather just about anything now, no matter what brush or soap/cream, and so far I can recognize if it's soap load (amount) issue, or a water (lack of) issue....like Clint says, whip it likes its 60 days late.

    Just some thoughts, hope it helps.

    Fuzzy @wchnu is one of my first friends on here that I met back in my newbie days . He answered a thousand questions I asked and was kind enough to enable me into the world of SE razors and then injectors, then Williams soap, then..aw you get my point.
