Great shave David. The CP is milder than the famous OC but gives a great shave just the same . I may break mine out next time.

First and foremost, we're here to talk shaving and help folks get their best start with traditional shaving. Time for the shenanigans to take a back seat.

Generally, the Flare Tip is not regarded as an aggressive razor. After a while, you'll be shaving well with any razor, so I wouldn't be too concerned about agressiveness. Same with Feather blades. They're just blades. They cut hair. You'll figure 'em out if you haven't already. Just pick a razor and a brand of blade and keep shaving with it. I also have a 54 Flare Tip SS, and it gives me about the same shave as my Fatboy on a wide open (9) setting.

Assuming you've checked the Flare Tip and there are no mechanical issues with it (blade alignment even, silo doors remain closed, etc.), it comes down to technique. Could it be that you're more familiar with the angle required by the 34C? It will likely take a few more shaves to become proficient with the Flare Tip (assuming no mechanical issues). I'd suggest giving it more time and possibly only doing 1 WTG pass for awhile. If you using good face prep, good lather, NO PRESSURE, short & slightly overlapping strokes, and good skin stretching, you'll get there. If you're not using your off-hand to continually stretch your skin, then you're not stretching enough.

This gent is one of the best skin stretchers I've seen...his off hand stays busy. Why not stretch with every razor stroke if you don't have an itch somewhere? :) (I don't use the shaving oil, but I do like his attention to detail regarding technique.)

And did I mention NO PRESSURE? It took me 6 months to figure out what that meant, but I'm a slow learner. :)

Keep us posted. We're glad to help, and you will conquer the Flare Tip! :)
