Fat Friday detour from a Stirling SEptember

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Polsilver SI
    Razor: Gillette Fatboy
    Brush: Omega 10049 boar
    Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave

Fat Friday goodness. Smooth and comfortable all around. Can't ask for much else. Will be a long and busy day and it's always nice to start off with a successful shave.

    Have a great day!

  6. Fat Friday!

Nice, Perry! I hope the day goes smoothly for you.

I did feel a little guilty skipping my Fat Friday shave. I've been doing them for awhile now.

  10. I actually got it to lather the soap well and didnt tangle it .....yet .

The brush didnt tangle on first run. Maybe I get lucky but I also used paint brush strokes.
The reason the bike was in living room was because I had no garage and also lived aloneat the time.

  13. Dont give up Jon. My first month was a rollercoaster for me . Trying to learn so much at once and sometimes it feels frustrating. The shaves got beter as I soldiered on. I'll put it this way...my crappier shaves were still better than the cart and goo shaves I was getting before wetshaving.
If the soap dies , just load up and re-lather . Dont let it stress you, but let it relax you. And that will come in time.
I've also had a badger lose about 20 hairs and a boar that shedded over 20 . Eventually both stopped and are now real good brushes. I know preaching patience is easy but to be honest I have almost none but managed to survive the first month. Stick it out my friend ...we are here for you all the way!

  16. As Jon @BlueShaver was saying earlier about shaving with glasses on so he could attain a better shave got me to thinking about something I'd seen before but forgot about. It was a 2 sided shaving mirror with a magnifying side on 1 face and regular on other side. I remember telling my girlfriend I'm going to get one of those after my next prescription change as I am finding I need longer arms to see things that I could normally see up close. I cannot wear my glasses to shave as I shave my head and that makes it impossible. Has anyone else ever used or seen one of these mirrors before ?
