Paul, I had the same first impression with Stirling's BoS. I was disappointed because I didn't see experience what the fuss was about this scent. Like all Stirling shave soaps, the performance was stellar. So, it was the second time that I got the full force of the scent and it was truly amazing. It is a unusual scent, but I have grown to like it. I hope the scent works for you, Paul.

This is SE month and today seeing as I have a little time I thought I'd share how I store my carbon steel blades.

First, water will help rust or oxidize steel,
we have all experienced that. But what happens to the blades that are stored? They do rust or oxidize but at a slower rate. So to stop steel, or anything from oxidizing, remove the oxygen that can get to them. In my experience with dehydrating food stuff, there is a simple and easy solution.
Get a canning jar with a sealed lid, and put a oxigen pack in it. This removes the oxigen and greatly reduces oxidation. I just remove a pack and close the lid when I need another tuck of blades. If the little button on top of the lid goes in, your O2 pack is still good. It takes about an hour for it to respond.

I told Ivan to do some shopping while I had my MRI today. Needed supplies for HQ. Unfortunately, he thought I wanted them brought into the room when he arrived.

Everything went well and I'm sure I'll see the report within a day or two. All this online access to records is a neat thing. She did have a problem finding a vein on me for the contrast IV so punted and did a hand injection instead. She kept having trouble getting into the vein with that as well until she realized that the magnet was pulling the needle left as she was going in. Talk about an obstacle course! Other than that no worries. Apparently I have a long liver which required "a couple of extra slices". The music - classic rock including some Pink Floyd. I'll take it. Have a great Saturday!

Beautiful photo! Sorry about the rough shave with the GEM. Hang around here for awhile, work on your technique, and try it again in a few months. You might be surprised and pleased with the results. Many of us here have had similar experiences with "troublesome" gear...turns out the problem was due mostly to technique.

This all assumes there are no mechanical problems with the razor, blade is loaded and aligned properly, etc.

Since Colonial Razors is releasing the update SS General today, I decided to pull out my brass General. I used the Savonniere du Moulin again today. This soap is just transformed by using it in a shave stick form. The little Duke 3 synthetic face lathered like a dream. The brass General was whisker eraser removing the stubble with ease. There passes and touch ups easily ended with the baby in the house. A splash of Fine Italian Citrus left me clean shaven and smelling fantastic. I hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday.

My Brides uses a Vacu Vin stopper on her wine bottles. A small hand pump fits onto the stopper to remove most of the air in the bottle after it is re-sealed. (Yep, we re-seal. We're not wine snobs, and these are inexpensive wines.) Keeping the oxygen out of the bottle extends the wine's shelf life. It's handy for someone like my Bride who only has an occasional glass.
