  1. Hey Jeff
I always use a new blade, one then done. I never do anything to the blade prior to loading it and shaving. Using Feathers in every razor they fit, or Pezonna Gem blades.
I have over 90 DE razors, about 30 different SE razors.
My suggestion is to work on your technique. I know you can get a perfect shave if your technique is right, with any razor loaded with any blade. I too had the same issues, being afraid of feather blades, to sharp. Doing a focus on them made Feather blades my go to blade. I buy them by the hundreds now.
If I can do it, believe me, so can you.
    Good luck and....
    Ride the cap!

  2. Don't have to worry untill someone notices you glow in the dark and electronic devices stop working when you get near them.
Thats when you should be concerned.

  3. Mee tooo!

If the weight of gear in your cabinet starts bowing the timber, I'll take one for the team and volunteer my services as reviewer and commentator.

    A Stirling SEptember

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: GEM PTFE
    Razor: GEM Micromatic
    Brush: JR #41 badger
    Soap: Stirling Ozark Mountain
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Ozark Mountain aftershave

    A few things to discuss:

First, I survived the harvest full moon on Friday the 13th with being responsible for 150+ teenagers whose minds were almost solely on the Homecoming dance that followed the game. Whew!

Second, some talk of bowls and bowl lathering lead me to bowl lather today. Hmmm. I'm just not good at it. My lather was not any better than a face lather. I have some cool bowls including two or three my sister made (Boise Mudworks is her business [shameless plug]) but rarely use them. It's a lot of extra work. I'm not disparaging or thinking poorly of those who bowl lather - all of you know I support any shaving style in the vein of "it's your shave, do it your way". I think, for me, bowl lathering is not an avenue I'll spend much time pursuing.

Third, my friend Andrew @Linuxguile gifted me this MMOC last September. It can be a beast of a razor but with light, light pressure and attention to angle it shaves magnificently. Thank you, Andrew!

Fourth, Ozark Mountain is a stellar scent.

Fifth, I am thankful for this group and it's knowledge and levity. We are from different parts of the world and walk different paths in our lives, but we can come together and share shaving news but also news of our kids and our goings-on. This is a rare corner of the inter-webs, and I'm glad to part of it.

Shave on, folks, and enjoy your Saturday!

  5. Gorgeous. Love the brush!

Awesome Clint. Love the B&W and wood grain.

Great thoughts and info! Thank you.

BoS is interesting to my nose. Sometimes the first whiff is slightly ‘off’. But, for me, it’s the lingering fragrance that I really appreciate. Catch the aroma several times a day. Big bonus is wifey is a fan.

  6. Just add a 2x12 under the shelf, that good for another 600 pounds or so.

    Just saying...
    Worked for me anyways.

  11. Great report and commentary Perry!

It is a different game of shaving for everyone. That’s what is so cool. I try face lathering, and while it’s okay....I’m like, what’s the big deal? Too impatient. Feels like I’m trying to scrub engine grime off a 300,000 mile engine that’s had a slow oil leak for 275,000 miles. Add in a scritchy brush. Um, just no. Bowl lathering..that’s where it’s at people. Painting on juicy yogurty slickery bliss....ain’t much that can beat the feeling! Luxurious to the nth degree.

  19. Hello all on a sleepy Saturday,
    afternoon??
Been a while since I had the luxury of sleeping till eight, then shaving at noon thirty.
Got out an odd little-known razor, as far as I can tell, called an Owl. A single edge, chrome one peice razor from 1909-ish. A light little guy that is a head shavers dream. Not much to this blade holder (if I can borrow the term) just a thin light handle and enough metal to hold a blade attached to it.
A new blade and a very nice 2 pass face and 2 pass head shave. No issues, just shaving goodness.

No reason to shave today other than the wife said I'm getting scratchy.
    Works for me.
    to all
    Enjoy
