Dig the knot out. Knock the loose paint chips off. Three or four coats of satin clear urethane to seal it but keep the look. Install a knot of your choice. You can make up a story about The Civil War, WWI or II.

If there was ever a "take my money" moment, that moment was it. The 460 came in a Leather case, Nickel Plate case(460B), Silver Plated case(460C), and Gold Plated case(460G), and saw at least 4 different case designs. Small Latch(1909), Large Latch(1909-10), Rivet Latch(1910-15), and Soldered Latch(1916-21). The later cases did not have the patent dates or patent numbers. Attached are 2 different ads for the Saturday Evening Post. The first is from September of 1910 andthe other is from November of 1910. Less than 2 months apart and the 460 cases are different. You can also see different latches on the ABC cases.
First acquisition a Gillette Popular I believe this one is most likely a 1939. It has patent no 400621 on the base plate and pat no 430030 on the handle. Best of my knowledge they made these 1938 - 1940. The 38 British versions I think only say pat 400621 on the base plate, no patent info on the handle. Then you have this one and finally in 1940 they only say patent no 4300030 on the base plate and nothing on the handle. Second acquisition is a Supply v2. When I saw this come up on the secondary market for sale at $75 shipped with all 3 base plates and almost 2 full keys of blades I jumped on this since I am into injectors now.
Very cool haul! Nice butterscotch brush. Unfortunately the first time I read it I thought it said Mongo and I had flashbacks of ....... I'm sure it won't explode.
