Shoot, that one is supposed to mean you like fougeres. I guess this hokey stuff doesn't work after all
I think I do like Fougeres. I need to study the scent wheel some more I guess, and decide who I’m supposed to be. I know that Ozark Mtn, Christmas Eve, SDM, Gatlinburg, Barbershop and Haverford are some of my very favorites of the “heavy/earthy/cold season” scents. But I’m a complex man.

My second go-round with the Blood on Steel this morning. I did a full commentary on 30DC, but on here I'll just say that this is a scent that has kind of thrown me off stride a bit. My "Old factory" sense is still working on this one (olfactory, chuk yuk yuk). But I'm glad to have it in both the soap&A.S.
SOTD September 14, 2019 A Stirling SEptember Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap Blade: GEM PTFE Razor: GEM Micromatic Brush: JR #41 badger Soap: Stirling Ozark Mountain Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Ozark Mountain aftershave Ozark Mountain is such a wonderful scent. I like to use it a lot in December as something in the scent reminds me of the holidays. Used some Frost Drops and bowl lathered, but the Frost Drops had congealed toward the top and I had to stir it up with a Q-tip and then shake like mad. I think it got hot in the mailbox when it was delivered, but a little TLC got it all in good shape again. Wonderful shave all around.

Not to side-track our Shave of the Day theme, but I’m still recovering from being blown away by Haverford. Has anyone here used Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille to compare? I assume Rod has, and even if his formula is 90% close, I’m considering saving up for a bottle of the original.
Stirling Sheep Single edge new Stone Straight September Surprise Wow, didn't expect to wind up with the results I got today. My first brand new straight is still one of my standard bearers for performance in edge forward shaving devices. It was honed at purchase on a Belgian coticule, made me look in this direction a little. I've read of the search others have gone through looking for 'their edge', now I understand better. For my final decision, it was going to be this one or a Suehiro 20k and my fav vendor didn't have a Suehiro in stock. Took the Master Wonky Razor YZ for a drive on the new rock. I never thought I'd use a 'thumbpad test' on a razor, but I did. Found it to be useful indicator for me. After honing, I went to my pasted balsa strops... green, red, black, diamond, cBN, then roo. Like I usually do on shave tool evaluations, Stirling Sheep ... no added scent, but I wouldn't say unscented. The aroma from mutton tallow is so easily overlooked when I think how much better the resultant lather is than 'anything' else I've used. To much cheering from the 'bloomaphobes', I didn't bother to ask for any help from the Exulted Blue Ming. I got by just fine with the Stirling badger on my own. This crummy Chinese razor delivered a more comfortable shave than I ever thought I would get by my own hand on anything I honed. Quite rewarding, I must say. Now, because I failed to isolate my individual changes, I really can't totally credit the honing OR the stropping...... but I do like the result. Splashed on the Stirling mentholated lime aftershave.... because I like the menthol, candy lime, alcohol and witch hazel. Great shave, great fun. Be Well!
uh LADIES&GENTLEMEN: I'm proud to announce today the set schedule for the 2021 Tonys. Before the Labor Day Tony nominations, I said I might expand the nomination days next year. I will be doing exactly that. Beginning in February of 2020, there'll be 6(count'em six)nomination days-one every other month-thus February, April, June, August, October, and December. The exact dates are yet to be determined, but we now won't have too long to wait between each Tony nomination. The championship&runner-up prizes will still be New Year's Day(2021).
