You cannot discount too much pressure. Ride the cap. Imagine removing the lather NOT the stubble.

Welcome. I am by no means an expert SR shaver. I have been using one since February. DE shaving for about 5 1/2 years. I have recently added a shavette to my arsenal.

Rumors. There was this place in Spain, I think, that was selling it for less than $20 shipped! I bought 4. Since then I traded 1, so I have a 3/4 full bottle and two backups. Ironically, I traded it for a tub of SV Colonia and AS. Ask Jason where that product now resides?

Lol! That's why I decided to hone my razors. I have 13 straights and if I sent every one of them out to be honed, it would cost me $325 + approximately another $60 for shipping. That's almost $400! My 15/16 Wolstenholm near wedge is the only razor that will be honed and it will be performed by the seller.

    Stirling SEptember!!!

    September 15

Razor - Gem Micromatic Open Comb
    Blade - CVS Carbon SE
    Soap - Stirling Port-au-Prince small stupid sheep.jpg
    Brush - 30DC LE
    Post - Alum

A fairly nice and relaxing day today. Didn't go anywhere, or do anything other than check in here a few times. The next seven days are all busy so I needed the break to catch my breath. It's "Sheep Sunday" for me and out came the Stirling Port-au-Prince soap for tonight. Mutton tallow with Haitian Vetiver and Lemongrass makes this one a real delight to use. That extra slickness and cushion combined with a very fresh and earthy scent makes this one of my favorites. And, it was also time to rotate razors and the OCMM is up. This is a favorite SE razor and can be a beast but I used it for a 30 Day Rule when I got it an tamed it. Still, it will bite if not respected. Having the extra protection from the mutton is a good thing. Fresh carbon blade and three passes proved the value of every part of this setup. The 30 DC LE brush is just an absolute top-notch looking and performing brush with the Tuxedo knot. Smooth shave, no blood, quiet alum - I almost lathered and did three more passes just because. Nice way to prepare for the coming week.

We're now halfway through September. Yeah, I know, but it's true. Have a great Monday and a fantastic week!

Neal, if we keep this up, then we are going to easily break 9,000 posts!

Even if you did 'send them out' you are still ahead of me. I consider my honing gear to be a modest investment compared to some, but still don't ask.... if my high school sweetheart finds out I might get the toss after all these years.

Well, my films and my marble substrate costing me 42 dollars, it would be many years before I would have to replace them or get stones.

    Good advice!

It is a tricky balance with this set up though, a mild blade, a mild razor, a soap which likes to cushion the blow and a stiff beard.
