I followed your convex journey with interest. Honing is ‘black art’ and different things work for different people. It’s part of the journey finding what works for you. For my it’s synthetic stones but I still struggle with thick grinds.
That works too! Arko mixed with our water left my skin literally squeaky clean......not good for straight razor buffing and/or overlapping strokes which I'm also guilty of. I can't imagine how much conditioner I'd have to use with Arko as a shampoo soap Our water (Dallas Fort Worth area) is pretty hard according to the testing I've done. And it's too much hassle to use bottled and/or distilled just for shaving, or kinda spendy installing a whole home filter. Having soaps laying around that don't work well, and aren't worth the effort to sell/pif....get the extra bathroom duty now. Have too many other soaps that do perform well, and their aroma is just incredible.
I did that myself. Caught the DE RAD and passed up a number of Schicks. The allure of nickle or gold plated brass made the plastic handled SE look like lesser razors. That's been long enough ago that several of the shops have closed so I can't go back and see what I left behind. It took the wisdom of the @Bama Samurai (and a well placed PIF) to get me to try them. I'm surprised more Cart Converts don't gateway into them. Good seeing you Randy! Glad you got a good shave with new gear.
Thanks for the kind words, guys! I really appreciate it. Jason, I agree regarding the NEW LC. It is my favorite DE razor. Blair, I have been really impressed with the T&H Sandalwood. Performance is top-notch, and I love the scent. There'll always be a spot in my Den for an English shave cream, and this one ranks near the top of all that I've tried. We had a blast with the kids today. After being with our kids, we leave the hospital every Monday dancing on the clouds. This is our extended family. @Paul Turner, here's a photo that you might like. May I introduce to Obie, Yari, and Juno. Here's the story of Obie and our dear friend and fellow volunteer, Caleb (shown above on the left in the blue jacket). It is cool beyond words: https://www.icandog.org/blog/obie-and-caleb/
You know the earth is flat? Lol. Thanks Joe ...just been busy and some times it just feels good to put down the electronic device.
Hi!..... Upon further reflection, it was decided that since I am building a new life in Alabama, a den reset was in order. I bought this from a Huntsville cutlery dealer today, and will make it my primary setup. FWIW, Soap Commander is an Alabama-made product. Parker 66r Parker SRB Barber Razor Parker Stand Parker Synthetic Shave Brush Soap Commander "Respect" Setup Shark Super Chrome Working on settling in. Other than that...all is quiet in North Alabama. Have a great evening and a pleasant Tuesday!
