    The penultimate day..

4th shave with this blade. I ummed and arred about putting a new blade in as i would be either using this one 4 times or a new one twice, but, given yesterdays success, i thought i would see where shave #4 would take me.

Routine is honed at this stage. Plenty hot water and a good pre-shave wash. Leave the face wet whilst i brush my teeth and then have at it with a 3 pass shave: Down/Across/Up. Rinse between passes.

I watched a shave by PaulH and he was struggling with a soap so much that he reached for the glycerine. This caught my eye and i got to thinking about the lack of slickness in the Cade soap and how i felt it was holding back the shave. I have glycerine but i also have a King-of-shaves (pre) shave oil, so, i thought i would give it a go, mix up the shave a bit and see what happens.
Well, i didn't notice a huge difference in slickness tbh but i did notice a difference in the shave. I could tell the blade is dulling and the shave oil was helping to buffer the pull. Not unpleasant and quite like a hybrid soap/oil shave. Touch ups were much easier though. No gauling of the razor or pulling.

I also had @Primotenore in my ear during the shave nagging me to ride the cap and shave the lather and not the stubble.
    The result?

A wonderful, wonderful shave. Perhaps the best i have had. BBS and a fantastic post-shave feel.
I finished off with Jerome St. A/S Balm and skipped out the door to work!

It is the last day of my 30DR tomorrow. I am going to go with shave #5 on this blade to see just how far i can push it. I might also bowl lather and use a dash of glycerine.

I am also thinking post 30DR. What to do? Hmm....

    Good morning!

Excellent shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Light tickle from the alum.

Yeah, the usual three pass routine with the results I've come to expect. The Supply razor with the •• plate is an easy shave.

Haverford up for today. Andrew @Linuxguile sent this on to me and I'm so glad he did or I would have probably missed out. It is a favorite in the rotation.

    Have a great day! [IMG]

Thank you, Charlie. Actually, the deceased was an acquaintance. I was there to pay my respect to him and to support his widow. I have known his wife for a long time because she volunteers at the Christian coffeehouse that I frequently attend.
