Looking good. How'd the lather come out? Is there a difference between the Canadian Williams and the US version?
I would like to have a bottle of the AV Sport, and a puck of the Canadian Williams. That box almost looks vintage, so cool. Clayton Sent from my LG-K450 using Tapatalk
This shave was from Monday morning. Mug: vintage Avon Razor: 1985 Gillette black handle Super Speed Blade: Shark Platinum Soap: vintage Williams Mug Luxury shave soap Aftershave: vintage Aqua Velva Ice Blue IMO the vintage Williams Mug is superior to the modern formula. The modern stuff would be difficult to lather, and the lather I did get would dissipate in a very short moment. The vintage Williams Mug however was easy to lather, the lather was thick and creamy and the lather did not dissipate. I’ll keep this vintage puck of Williams Mug in my rotation.
I have done a test lather with the puck of Williams (1st use of williams ever). This was using my dry-load method. The soap just sucked up the water wheb lathering up in the bowl. The lather felt ok though and seemed slick. Whilst i didn't shave with it, i didn't notice any significant dissipation. Smells like cheap Arko. 1st Williams shave tommorow!
i think the canadian packaging is an earlier version of the u.s packaging but not sure..the other side is in french.it has "made in the usa" on the side..if there was a way to ship aftershave across the border..
The packaging looks like it might be from the fifties, or early sixties. I remember years ago my grandpa gave me a puck of Vintage Williams that was in a box like that. I remember sending a Fatboy to Canada once and it seemed like it even had a hard time getting across the border. It would be cool if we could trade Aftershaves. I know you guy's don't get the Ice Blue up North like we don't get the Sport down here. Clayton Sent from my LG-K450 using Tapatalk
Williams retained the vintage style packaging in Canada for much longer, so you can not date Canadian Williams solely off the box front. You have to look at the corporate name and address, in tiny print to date them.
Okay, so today I was in the supermarket and found Burma Shave brushes and Williams Mug soap. I don't remember ever seeing the soap on the shelf anywhere. I picked up a puck of the soap just because I've heard so much about it. What I haven't heard was that it smelled like Lemon Pledge furniture polish. I was kinda shocked when I got home and opened it up. It smelled good and I wanted to see how it performed so I hit it with a boar hair brush and it lathered up good but it smells like Pledge furniture polish. I mean I like the smell but I get confused and start trying to wipe down my furniture with my shaving brush.
Vintage Williams Menthol for the win! There's Modern Williams, and then there's everything else. BigD

The Modern Williams was thick, slick, and cushioned beyond anything you can get from anything else. Yes, I love all my other soaps, but with a bit of work you can't get anything better than a Modern Williams shave.
While I'm showering I let water I placed in my Marvy mug soak with the brush in the same mug. After the shower I pour the soapy water in my VdH Bowl. Ring out my brush as best I can. Load my brush like it owes me money. Take it to the Lather bowl to start building my lather. When I need to hydrate my lather I dip my tips in the VdH bowl. Continue this process until my desired lather appears. I use the soapy water to wet my face between passes. After my final pass I lather up one last time to leave the soap on my face while I clean and put away my gear. Rinse off and start my Aftershave routine
