Good Morning, In looking over the postings this morning of this "lofty" and "distinguished" group, I was struck by how, with seemingly rare exceptions, we all use, as an avatar, something that carries some significance to us. What if we designated a "real picture avatar" day/week/etc. similar to how certain "challenges" are proposed. During that particular period of time, each participating member would change their avatar to show an actual photo, hopefully a recent one, of themselves. Give the rest of "the crew" a chance to put a real face with the name. Thoughts? Comments?
I wear a hat and smoke cigars all the time tbh. One of the greatest benefits of the Internet is the ability to speak with relative anonymity. This gives one a rare freedom to speak and act as one wants, rather than as one should. I would, in my case anyways, and especially so in this modern era of eternal outrage and offence, like to keep it that way.
If I'm out and about, me too. But a pipe rather than a cigar. Mine's not a recent photo. Once you get my our age, all the complimentary photos are prints or Polaroids, not digital.
Some folks prefer to limit what they make publicly available on the Internet, including their photo. Others don't mind so much. Many forums have a "What do you look like?" thread where members can post full size photos. The Shave Den's is here: https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/what-do-ya-look-like.59/. There are member photos going back six years.
i change avatars like my razors, if its funny i use it..love darts, beer, cars.monty python, old gillettes, well you know..
Nah I live in a country without freedom of speech and prefer to stay pseudo-anonymous online, down to purposely picking a common/generic username.
Folks, I meant no ill will with my idea. As far as I'm concerned, it's a moot point. May it fade away!!
LOL! An old, crusty according to my wife, sometimes grouchy semblance of a barn at that! Oh well! Too late to change now!!
