If you don't want a floral barbershop scent (and I'm right there with you) then Union might do the trick. It's tallow based as well. Light menthol. Ghost Town Barber is a good one, and so is Seville.
Summer Storm starts off as a wet, earthy vetiver and petichor scent, but over the course of the day it transforms into a musky cologne. Well crafted and unique
You can get the matching AS samples here: https://groomatorium.com/products/chiseled-face-aftershave-samples?variant=8417917698091 I recommend it! The scents are pretty amazing. But make sure those tops snap down properly, or the juice evaporates. And Summer Storm is probably my fave. With GTB and Stag right up there. And then Trade Winds.
It's not Tallow, But Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements / Crown King also makes an awesome soap called CK-6. Great protection and slickness, really rivals any tallow base. They have a few samples of the soap. But they have tons of great masculine scents, all offered in aftershave samples as well.
PAA keep coming up. I will give them a try sometime soon. By soap budget is spent for a little while.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Regarding something to go with Axe Dark Temptation, I feel that the PAA Bourbon Chocolate goes with it the best, and is a masculine fragrance to me. Even though I don't think it's tallow, in my opinion TABAC products are about as masculine as can be in my humble opinion, but I understand that it's a "love it or hate it" scent... I just happen to love it.
Stirling Ozark Mountain, Stirling Barbershop, Stirling Haverford, Stirling Sharp Dressed Man, and Stirling Gatlinburg. I could go on, but you’ll spot the pattern.
I'm glad you put Hipster among the others, as that one is eligible to get the Stoylin Tony Award Best In Show this season.
I had a sample Gatlinburg A.S. I thought it was OK, but I'm still on the fence about purchasing a full-sizer A.S.(or soap).
I have two soaps on my PAA list. Boomtown Bay Rum-well I already BOUGHT that one-and Home On The Range.
