Sept 23rd (5am shave, just now posting)

Wholly Kaw - La Fougère Parfaite SS
Wild West Brushworks Handle/Zenith Boar Knot
New Azumi - Yasuki Steel Kamisori
Wholly Kaw - La Fougère Parfaite AS

Apparently, Blue Ming shows up anywhere. I've only read about her craziness up 'til today.....somehow, while showering, tablespoons of hot water landed on the WK SS and ol' buddy Proraso went missing. Everything happened so quietly, even the dogs slept. Double checking all the doors were locked....a little cautious, I figured I should just go with it, and tossed the now cloudy mixture in the shave bowl. Rubbed fingers on the SS, and worked it as a pre-shave. Proceeded with the WWB/Zenith combo, and (as Clint suggests) watched the soap inch up the bristles, then beat it like it's 60 days late. Whipped it was, a super slick yogurty lather that painted on with a wet pfft, pfft, pfft, each time the WWB handle landed a stroke. The New Azumi Kamisori hadn't seen use in awhile, and proved barely up to a shaving task, even after time with the pasted strop/linen & CrOx/leather routine. Managed a 3 pass CCS, and followed with the matching WK La Fougère Parfaite AS. This blade will go in the pile with a couple others for a bevel reset. Not sure yet Blue Ming should visit again. More comparisons soon, after some honing time.

WK's La Fougère Parfaite AS and SS....in case you aren't familiar, is a clone of the current Brut 'Essence of Man' splash currently on shelves everywhere. I can barely perceive the difference in fragrance between the two, other than the WK version is a little 'more', not different/better/worse, just stronger.

Hope everyone has a great Monday!
  3. You have plenty on your plate so I will pray that you will keep strong, Rick.
  4. You always get a nice shave, Andrew!

  5. I can't plan that far ahead! Lol! For me, it is Only Straights October!
  6. So you are off probation, but there's a suspended sentence to keep you from acting out again? The community service becomes a habit, helping to keep others from crossing that line.

Apologies to Johnny fans. I enjoy a good cover.
  7. Jim, although the VDH is my least favorite razor, it does give a nice shave! I have used Voshkod and Rockwell blades and it performed well.

  8. Hey Evan, it happens. I unwittingly have cut my finger because I had the blade facing me as I was drying it. I also have nicked my ear a few times. I consider cuts, nicks and weepers as inevitable, but the goal is to be errorless every 100 shaves. So far, I have missed the mark. Lol!
  9. Good shave, Blair! CCS after 3 passes and Crox treatment, I would do some honing also. Now, I don't have stones, but have head knowledge about them. The bevel is set if you can get a CCS. I would go to 8K, finish on a 12K and then hit the Crox and see if you can get a BBS shave. If not, go to 4K and continue through the progression. The one thing I do know about honing is that there is more than one method that works and that can be quite frustrating. Anyway, I am sure that you would figure it out.
  10. Excellent photo and shave report Andrew.

  20. No problem, Jim! I know YMMV because of differences in beard type, technique, etc.
