My skin gets quite dry when the weather gets colder, that might have something to do with it.
Actually i've gotten worse cuts with carts than with my DE:s. That's why i used the single blade Bic Sensitives before i bought my DE.
Carbon steel treets are quite mild, i have Lord platinums as well but can't remember if they are mild or not. Bought a 100-pack as they were cheap and worked well in the Feather Popular. Any recommendations for the 34c? YMMV for sure, but a tuck doesn't cost much.
I actually like using cold water. I'll have to experiment shaving every other day after the 30 days.

I would look to get a sample back of blades. I bought mine 12 months ago and i am still getting through them. They are a great way to see what you may or may not like. A recomendation for the 34c with your history? Hmm.
Not Astras, Or WS, or Feathers. All too sharp. Derby extra & Platinums (Great blade btw) , Rapira's, Personnas perhaps?

For post shave in the cold, Arko cream in a little tube is well regarded. It has beeswax in it and is great as a winter post-shave balm. I used shea butter this morning and it helped my on my morning commute. Some on here swear by it.

I wish you could have told me this when I mentioned seeing that goofy ice cream man juggling scoops of ice cream as he would scoop'em out with one scooper in each hand(this was shown on internet news). . The man from Florida hasn't yet replied to me telling him about this.

As an Engineer who is fighting middle aged spread themselves ( ) , i did a cause/effect analysis on my ever increasing waistline.
My findings were that it is mostly a mass-balance problem. The inputs outweigh the outputs and the spread is caused by the resulting deltas.

I found that the biggest culprits for these deltas is crisps, chocolate and beer. These have a disproportionate effect on my mass balance and they are a personal weakness...
Of course, in engineering, the easy bit is often finding the problem. It is the identification and employment of the solution which is the challenge.
Luckily, in my case the solution is obvious: To drastically cut back on the consumption of those three.

However, the employment of that solution is proving to be a bit problematic!

The ClogPruf was funky enough that I decided to soak it in dish soap to clean up when I get home later. Grabbed a fresh blade for the OCMM and enjoyed a nice shave this morning. Two passes and a little buffing along the jaw line for a nice close and comfortable shave. Overall, I don't notice much difference between the Clog Pruf and the OCMM. Both are great. Enjoy your day.

Another fine shave this morning with essentially the same products as yesterday(although I switched brushes to the Canadian Rubberset). To paraphrase the line from the Jaws flick, "I'm gonna need a wider mug" for future soaps. I kept making "dinging" sounds as I was loading the brush. It helped some to turn the mug on its side, as I see in many videoers do, but not by much. The dinging sounded like what you might hear from an ice-cream truck. But the shave was solid again. A lot of soap is forming along the sides of the mug, which I suppose should be expected with a cakesoap in a small-ish mug.

Back on the focus this month, having passed on the GD Fortis. It was fun while it lasted,
but this den already has too many soaps and I was happy to PIF it.
Single edge and creams are the subject of today's shave.
I took Scott's advice @DaltonGang and took the Dovo to the 12K and 16K stones, followed by
the balsa strop green, then red. To the linen strop and finally 150 laps on leather.
Oy weh, that's a lot of stropping!
Question for all honers: One side of my edge, while honing is buttery smooth, some slight resistance, but minimal.
The other side feels as if there is grit on the stone. What's up????

Now the lather and shave were excellent. I have a minimal amount of residual stubble on the
hard to shave areas, and I resist going over and over these spots. It's just not worth it.
Chin is smooth. Cheeks are smooth. Jawline is pretty smooth.
I would call this a typical result for me and a straight.
The Baume.Be continues to impress. I love, love, love the scent.

I agree, Jon. Input - Output = Accumulation. I don't try to overthink my weight problem. Basically, I love to eat large portions of bad foods, and I don't move enough. As I've gotten older, I'm beginning to realize that feeling better, living longer, and fitting into my clothes trumps these bad habits. I keep tabs on what I eat & how much (reduce the inputs and make better choices most of the time) and try to get more exercise (increase the outputs). I also have some problematic foods that I love and really have to watch, including dairy (especially ice cream and cheese), carbs, and soft drinks. Most importantly, I don't beat myself up when I fail. I choose to go on and get back on the program...I call that skinny people thinking.

I use an app called LoseIt! and an inexpensive food scale that helps with my portions. I've been at it for about 430 days. Taking a long-term view, I'd say that even small changes can have a big impact. I have made a variety of small changes in my diet and exercise regimen over time, and the cumulative effect has been tremendous. In fact, I've received a lot of good ideas from my friends here.

Admittedly, the graph thing is silly to most people. It keeps me aware of my weight and those insidious upward trends. By going public with you guys, I'm inviting you to hold me accountable.

The Shavesmith Kamisori spent over an hour on the hones and strops last night. It was inadvertently dragged off the counter (by a towel edge) last time it was used....and it wasn't pretty. Complete reset on the edge to remove a nick. Probably lost about 0.75mm of steel. Progression: Norton 1k, 4k, Elsass Ceramic 8k, Shapton Ceramic 12k, then diamond pasted strops 14k/50k/100k, finally finishing with linen & leather. Didn't tape the spine, as it wasn't taped by Shane when he originally honed it. Had some fun with the image today, hopefully showing the mirror finish on the fresh edge.

3 pass DFS+. Wild West Brushworks handle with the Zenith Boar knot and PAA CK6 formula.....slick aromatic bliss. I purposely overloaded the brush, and the results were lather bowl overflowing fun (Wifey laughing at me). Probably a little over caffeinated, as I was up way too early, and already had one round of a coffee infusion before showering. The new edge....buttery smooth, even though this is a very light kamisori. Never weighed it (should), but it feels much lighter than the smaller traditional Japanese kamisori I used yesterday. Takes concentrated angle and pressure to get it's work done. No nicks or irritation to report. Followed with the matching PAA AS/Cologne.
