I'm in soon as my MWF arrives. I may take the occasional "other" lather but I'll try my best to Rule.

A question on the difference between MWF and Kent; MWF is unscented or just so faintly that there's no agreement on what it smells like?? I read Kent "features a fine, fern-like fragrance based around Patchouli, enhanced with extracts of Lavender, Pine and Clove and with notes of Nutmeg, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Vanilla and Musk."

I am noticing a trend here. Midweek there seems to be lot more traffic than on the weekend. Work will cause that.

No way I can keep up with this much reading and keep my job, wife, and kids. I guess I will notify my kids they have been replaced. Feels like a notification best given EOD on a Friday.

Bonavita; BV1901 has a basket that hangs from the machine whereas the 1900 basket rests on top of the carafe? With the 1900 where do you put the basket when it's done brewing? The TS has a stainless carafe without heat plate, whereas the GW is glass and does have a heater that apparently may scorch the brewed coffee. My thoughts lean to the BV 1901 TS with the improved hanging basket and thermo-walled SS carafe.. Charlie @wristwatchb & Blair @b1hart have these? Which model are you running?

I have experienced one side of a razor I honed shaving rougher than the other as well. I was reasonably convinced it had something to do with my applying differential pressure somewhere in my process.

It appears as if some of the other guys hit on it a little with some helpful stuff.

You almost have to use a hanging strop with one hand. I have slowed down, lightened up, used a little more tension (not tight), used fewer more deliberate and controlled motions.

For everything else I abandoned single handing the razor. I am using my thumb and index fingers at each end mostly on the spine. Depending on the direction (away/towards) one digit pushes the other applies the controlling force to the edge. I find more consistent control this way especially with advanced strokes.

I seldom work more than 5 laps on anything without matching in the other side. Mostly 1 up, 1 back.

I use the same light controlled touch on balsa strops.

I'm not sure why, but I find 150 laps on leather to be a high amount. Especially after coming off 16k and green & red pasted balsa.

I did my 2nd shave with the wonky China ZY razor today to double check it. I knew this had 1 rough side before. Now it is close enough to not be a concern.

I might suggest the use of a nice magnifying instrument if you have not done so already. I look to see that the scratch pattern on the bevel is finer and more polished. Any little chips you can see in the edge will also give a rough shave.

    Good luck!

In honor and respect for the new high tech Wednesday lather machine I almost joined the dry soaper juggernaut.

    But I am stubborn...... Therefore

Stirling Straight Single edge September rolls on with another PiacenzDay Wednesday.

Stirling Piacenza soap thoroughly blessed by the Great Blue Ming.
Whipped into a frenzy with the Stirling Tuxedo (what an awesome brush for $13)
2nd shave after coming into its own on the convex Belgian Coticule, the Chinese ZY Wonkmaster.
    Piacenza Aftershave.

Piacenza bath soap, shampoo bar, deodorant, and EdT couldn't hang for the photoshoot but send their regards.

The Kent southerners are just a bit more wordy than the Yorkshiremen at Mitchell's.

    'Tis the same stuff.

I think the study is reasonable tbh. Obviously it isn't as detailed or structured as a full blown engineering research project but Its just shaving, not particle physics.
I would be delighted if my skin and face was as tolerant of variations in blades as yours and others are. Unfortunately for me, that isn't the case and i have to be a little selective :(

I have had both. Zero difference. Kent=MWF=Kent and vice-versa.

MWF has one of the all-time best post-shave feels in soaps, most def©.
