  1. For me, I'd say one outta 3 ain't bad. No rough foods for me until I get these fillings done on the 15th(certainly not ribs anyway), and I'm doing various substitutes for ice cream these days. As for Clubman.....see below:

Stay on topic. Stay on topic....LUKE, I can't hold it much longer....R2, see if you can tie up that loose......use the force Luke (or something like that). Great shave Charlie. Distillery tour? Hmm....we'll need a report on that y'know.

  13. Beautiful photo and shave, Clint!
  14. Thanks guys. The punch list is fairly short, and all the sub contractor crews have been excellent throughout.

Report to follow on the distillery/warehouse tours.
Neal, you have me over a barrel if you want to bargain with ribs and ice cream. I can't stand up against all those years you spent in sales. I'd could probably be talked into taking a bath in Clubman. I'll take special precautions, however, to stay down wind of all supermarkets, bingo parlors, wig shops, and knitting circles. I don't want to create any undue disturbances in the Force while in the Lou.
As an engineer, I'm used to holding things together with bailing wire and duct tape. Not sure how that would work herding the cats here. I leave that to the more experienced hand of @RyX.

    Trip report forthcoming! :)
  15. Beautiful photo, Blair! Interesting thoughts on The Fat.

  16. Glad to help! I keep notes on the first names of TSD Members. Nelson? If I neglected to share, I'm Rick. This 30 Day Experience is all about getting the best shaves with the gear you already own. Although we recruit New Shavers with the idea of slowing their Acquisition Disorders in favor of actually learning how to shave, we also egg each other on to try new equipment. There's a balance in there somewhere. It's usually achieved by Technique.

    Three main ideas that help give acceptable beard reduction with less irritation;

    1) Ride the cap for optimal blade angle - less scraping.
    2) Less pressure, again to avoid scraping the skin, just wiping away lather.
    3) Skin stretching to provide close to a flat plane and avoid digging in.

There's many other little incremental improvements that help, but those three are 30 Day Techniques that get recent cartridge shavers on the right track to Wet Shaving without irritation.

For you specifically, a '55 Gillette Super Speed? I think Joseph @Primotenore has something similar that he enjoys. Not sure if this is described as a mild, medium, or efficient razor. I suspect mild as those tend to have a tight sweet spot that needs just the right angle. Many experienced users like to pair a very sharp blade with a mild razor. Some of us goofy 30DC use Feather & KAI blades in aggressive razors, but we're just a little odd that way. I don't think you mentioned your blade of choice. Eventually you may find it makes less difference, but everyone develops preferences.

Another factor may be your lather. For those that use straight razors, kamisori, and shavette, they have found a wetter lather works better. I'm a bowl latherer because I can get enough volume and consistent quality beginning to end of my shave that way. For face latherers, I'll let them give their thoughts. Try making your lather wetter? It will increase slip, glide, residual, etc. It's possible to "break" a lather with too much hydration and you'll know when it happens - just too wet to cling to your skin.

Hope these ideas help. Let us know, hang out with The 30 Day Crew, and you'll be teaching others, too!

  17. Wonderful photo and shave, Jim! Hang in there.

Do you like the scent of PAA Cavendish? I'm in the market for another tobacco splash since my Jeeves Tobacco Bay Leaf is running down and it doesn't seem to be available any more.
  18. Sounds like a wonderful day, Charlie! We may be coming up in April for some distillery tours. No firm plans yet, but we have some friends who have been on many of the tours and want to take us. The trip would also include a visit to Keeneland.
  19. Thank you Clint!
Thanks Patrick! How's that remodel project going? Weather cooperating? Those leaky roofs never show when it's dry enough to do the repairs.
