Shave#34 on the Filly 14 Sub Cero edge longevity test, and at this point it does seem that the edge is holding smoothness better than the Doble Temple that I tested before. Maybe there is something to that ‘ice’ hardened steel. Soap was MdC agrumes lathered with a big Simpsons 59, and a splash of Myrsol Limon finished up a BBS shave.
  2. 7/8 Ralf Aust with Rosewood Scales

Had a wonderful shave with this Solingen blade. BBS in two passes.

  5. Had a Chevalier in my shopping cart not long ago. Great looks!

Made the cart switcharoo to a coticule.

Still in the running but may loose out again to a Suehiro Gokumyo 20k on the next cash availability.

Late post, this morning’s shave, Filly 14 black scaled Sub Cero, soap was I Coloniali Mango lathered with a M&F 22mm Alibaba Finest, with a dab of I Coloniali Rhubarb AS. Just perfect.

  15. I haven't used this much, but I should. It was a complete restoration I did, a while back, and my first attempt at making Horn Scales. I had a fantastic 2 pass shave, without touch-ups, that left me smooth as only a straight razor can. This razor shaves perfectly, and feels good, in the hand too.

Razor- Wade & Butcher. Honey Horn Scales.
Soap- More For You. Made in Turkey.
    Brush- Wilkinson Sword Boar
Aftershave- Vintage Avon Spicy. Viking Horn Decanter.

  18. Circa 1920's Salamander "Our Wedge" 5/8

This one has turned out to be one of the best razors I have found. Paid a mere $17. The honing process was films to Coticule to Thuringian, back to .5/.3 mu films and finished on 200k diamond pasted balsa. All this resulting in the efficiency/effectiveness of a manufactured shavette blade.

  19. Shave #35 on the Filly 14 user Sub Cero edge test, still going strong. Soap was MdC fougere, lathered with a Paladin hi-rise beehive (basically a Keyhole with a cool grooved top) in krakatoa resin, and a splash of Myrsol topped off a BBS shave.
  20. Steve’s 14s gave me the itch to pull one out myself on this Saturday...
