Let me help you understand, Jon. We have the US Constitution which is our foundation for every law made in my country. There are 27 Amendments to it. The 2nd Amendment states that citizens have the right to bear arms. The 2nd Amendment protects citizens from our government being a dictatorship. In the US, the citizens have a right to overthrow the government through the electoral process. However, if the US government became totalitarian, then we as citizens can take over the government by force. There is a movement to make this a socialistic country and to strip every citizen of their right to have a gun by abolishing the 2nd Amendment. If that happens, then every citizen will be at the mercy of the US government. Our founding fathers put that 2nd Amendment in the Constitution to prevent this situation. The founding fathers did not want another dictator like King George the Third, ruling over the US.
I know the history of the 2nd amendment and its historic importance to the citizens of the US but this isn't 1700's anymore and things change and civilisations mature. Time to move on.
When written, the constitution of the united states was meant to protect the people from the government tyrant. As they knew it, sometimes force was the only way. Sad, but still rings true today. Me, I've got a cup of good coffee waiting on me, and a late morning shave. Enjoy tp
Comfortable is good! Good morning, Dale. Good morning, Blair. Very nice, Jeff! Great shave and beautiful razor, Joseph!
Chris, I would say if you had problems with the Dovo shavette, then it is your technique. I started straight shaving with the Dovo shavette in Oct 2018. I will be the first to admit that I am a klutz, except in a Chem lab. From the start, I had a very good attitude and was not fearful in using it. I was surprised that I didn't cut myself the first day. Over the next 15 shaves, I was able to do 3 passes without any major cuts or nicks that I decided that I can graduate to traditional straight razors. I learned to have a soft touch and get the right angle to shave with it. I have over 100 shaves with my shavette and it is a wonderful razor, once you get your touch and angle down pat.
Disagree, my friend. You have dictatorships in the 21st Century ala Venezuela, China and N. Korea. Take away our guns, we lose the US as we know it.
"Old" legacy dictatorships in 3rd world countries. You think the people are going to start forming militia and private armies to fight a government gone rouge? You think that modern politics and democracy would even allow that to happen? I think thats mistaken imho. Holding onto that belief is costing the citizens of the US an awful lot of spilt blood and unnecessary death. I strongly disagree with free gun ownership so i will leave it at that, less we get into argument!
And to think, they quit making that razor decades ago. It would be a shame if they quit making blades for it. Nice shave Dale, I'm gonna try my electric sheep today. tp
OCtober 6th Razor: PAA Ascension Twist CU Blade: Gillette Winner (1) Brush: Heritage Collection Ever-Ready Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated Soap: PAA Pineapple Bay Rum PAA Galactic witch hazel PAA unscented Star Jelly AS: PAA Pineapple Bay Rum Good morning! Wonderful shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. One little spark from the alum at the corner of my mouth from an operator error induced weeper. First use of a Gillette Winner blade. Plenty sharp and plenty smooth. The Copper Ascension was opened one eighth turn, the midpoint of its suggested range of adjustability. Comfortable shave as usual. PAA Pineapple Bay Rum is a fun scent. If I remember correctly, Andrew @Linuxguile described it as smelling like Juicy Fruit gum. It does, and I like it! Have a great Sunday!
Jon, I am a very formidable debator. I will end this by saying that it would be impossible to forcibly take away the guns from 160 million adults, so it's a moot point. Let's debate on more important matters like shaving!
